Although I doubt Linux fixed it :P
Maybe the USB drive has some lose component inside, and sometimes it works, sometimes not.
It might be that because the drive got a bit warmer which made that the component moved a bit.

If you can somehow open it, you can. But that depends from usb drive to usb drive.
And many times it's quite hard to put it back together.

It's very possible that the connector was loose, just play with the drive up and down to see if it disconnects/reconnects.

I think it's a loose USB port that is about to die or something, but I could be wrong. If this happens again, try plugging another USB device in that port such as a calculator or a phone to see if it gets detected fine.

That didn't work

I think it's a loose USB port that is about to die or something, but I could be wrong. If this happens again, try plugging another USB device in that port such as a calculator or a phone to see if it gets detected fine.
I tried that one also, the port is working well, I also tried on many other PCs, but now it is working somehow... :)
