I have TI84+SE, and use USB. Somehow, TI-Connect never detects me, and I think it's because I never had the CD that came with the calc (I got my TI84 by trading TI83+ with my friend) so I tried TiLP. TiLP works very well with TI84+SE, but the only problems I got was that I couldn't send anything in archived state, grouped files were ungrouped before sending files, and lastly couldn't send any pic variables(consequently, can't play many games requiring pic vars  :'(

It never worked? What OS do you have, and do you know if the cable works? I've used the TI-Connect off of there website maybe there is a way to resolve this problem, I know that TI-Connect can send everything fine, if not as fast as TiLP.

That's interesting! I have the same exact problem with TiLP under Linux(Ubuntu 9.04), I cannot send any picture variables. So this may be a bug, unfortunetly the main programmer of TiLP had stopped working on it from what I've heard. This means that there may be no bug fix, but maybe someone that's skilled in C/C++ can fix it? All we can do is hope I guess...

I have the newest OS, 2.43, and for the cable, I use the exact same one for TiLP and works fine. So I am guessing it's either I installed it wrong, (however, I uninstalled it and installed it at least 5 times, with lots of googles) or my calc doesn't like TI-Connect

Ok, but what I meant what was, what is the operating system of your computer(vista, xp, linux, etc...) ;). Also, have you had TiLP installed before you ever used TI-Connect? I've had problems with that because the 2 drivers for the calc conflict with one another.

I have XP service pack 2, and yes, I have uninstalled TiLP. Actually, I installed TI connect first, but then since it didn't work, uninstalled it and installed TiLP.

idk, but often problems with linking softwares are due to the computer itself or broken windows files. Often, the only way to fix connection problems are to reformat the entire computer. I could be wrong, tho, since I am one of the very few people who still use an old serial link cable

I think I might have found a fix (or at least a work-around).  If it gives you an "Invalid Name Error" (this is the error I got):

1) Send it like normal.  Hit "Close" on the box that shows up informing you of the error.  When it then prompts for retry/skip/cancel, hit "skip".

2) Send it again.  This time it should say the name is already in use, and it will ask if you want to rename or overwrite.  Hit "rename".  In the box that prompts for the new name, you should see that the old name has the number as a subscript.  Change it to a normal number and the pic should transfer fine.

I've only been able to test this with one computer (running Ubuntu 9.04(jaunty)) and one calculator (TI-84+SE with OS v2.43) so I have no idea if this will work for anyone else.

LISTEN UP EVERYONE -- I FOUND OUT THE ANSWER
Ti-Connect is incredibly stupid. It will not allow you to transfer files to your calculator unless you are running the latest operating system on your calculator. For me, as soon as I upgraded to 2.55 mp for TI-84+, everything worked perfectly.
The reason that when you reboot w/o internet connection and it works fine is that TI-Connect always connects to the internet upon boot-up to check if you are running the latest OS. Don't ask me why. It's either a blindingly stupid bug, or a stupendously short-sighted feature.

That's not right... I've been using 2.43 ever since I got my calc, and it has always worked for me. (Well, not always... TI Connect is quite stupid no matter what OS you use >_>)
