We're almost ready to ship. At school working on it right now. Our arm is a simple pulley with a fulcrum to lift the "arm" which is actually just a pole with a block to keep the piece from sliding all the way down. Building the crate and adding the bumpers at the moment. I don't think thats too bad for a rookie team that had about 3 weeks worth of build time.

I have to say, I'm extremely disappointed in my team. I doubt there will be a club next year.

Only about three members actually did anything on a ten person team, if you discount what the mentors did. Basically, the robot isn't built, no programming has been written, none of the required documentation has been made (such as the parts list), and the robot can't even communicate with the computer. That's to say nothing of the fact that all of the important accessories such as the arm weren't even started as of yesterday when I checked in on them.

oh, I see why O.O x.x

Also, no programming whatsoever?? those are some lazy kids x.x  If they're doing it in Java/C++, they're screwed, it'll take them too long, though if they use LabView then they might be able to code something quick...

Well, I can't say that I blame them as much about the programming. The people responsible for the electronics only made the connections Friday. It hasn't really been possible to program.

oh, I see x.x

for some reason I noticed that there are always fewer programmers, and they try to work hard but the hardware people are a bit more lazy x.x

That was actually the fault of the girls. I'm not saying anything applies to all girls, but the ones on my team don't like to work. It's a case of too little motivation for a project of that scale.

FRC does seem quite large and intimidating, good thing our other programmer besides me is amazing at programming, and our mentor for java programming is even more awesome (and good at nicknaming, my name is "snooki" :P)

FTC is probably much less of a difficulty to compete in, you have more time and it's a bit less complex.  I just am worried about next year when I'm the main programmer for FRC O.O

We are having trouble fitting our design into the restrictions :( the bumpers block our case, the case is supposed to open using hinges, with 2 plexiglass sides for easy viewing, but the wooden boards prevent us from opening the case :'(

So Ship has come and gone. Hopefully y'all were able to work out the issues you had!

We managed to work out all of our problems with the main robot. But the minibot is annoying us because they didn't send us any of their mandatory parts for it. :( We are having issues with designs as well.

Mandatory parts does not sound fun.  What kind of parts?

Only the minibot has mandatory parts. The theme of the game this year is "combining" game components from the three FIRST leagues: FRC (robotics), FTC (tech challenge), and FLL (Lego). The FTC contribution is the minibot, which must be built from the FTC kit of parts.

Perhaps it's all just an excuse to sell more ;D
