General Calculator Help / Opening a calc?
« on: February 14, 2011, 12:33:00 am »
I've had problems with various keys sticking (arrow keys, clear, a few others) and I've been trying to figure out how to fix it.
I saw an image on google a while back (of course, I can't find it now that I'm looking for it :P) and it looks like I can get to the key hardware by opening it.
I can easily get the screws out, but how do you open the case?  I don't want to make some sort of stupid mistake trying to open it, and there's doubtlessly others a ton more experienced at this than I am.
It's an 84, black edition.

Maxwell's Demon

This is a game in which you use a hole in a center of a wall to sort different types of balls from each other.  Controls are given in-game.  Made with Axe Parser.

General Calculator Help / 84 Plus...ten apps...out of memory...help?
« on: January 24, 2011, 06:54:39 pm »
I have an 84+ that only accepts a limited number of apps.  Before, the limit was 10.  Now, it won't send any past SIX.
I tried to update axe, tilp deleted it, and won't send any apps whatsoever.
I've tried re-sending the OS (which, by the way, doesn't work now), garbage collecting, defragging, pretty much everything and it just doesn't work.
 :banghead:
OS, 2.43
Base, 2.43
Boot, 1.02
hardware stuff: S-0305B

I've been having this problem for months, and now it's even worse.

The sizes can range, four to six different sizes, up to 16*16.  Monochrome will work.

Thanks in advance ;D

Computer Projects and Ideas / Idea: "Number of days since RAM clear" widget
« on: November 29, 2010, 01:10:16 am »
I've had this random idea for the past few days: a simple sig widget thing.
The idea I have in mind is kind of like one of those web counters, but each day it increases by one.  And the person who's using it can reset the value.
So it would be like "2 days without a RAM clear" or something like that.
Any ideas of how/where to do this?
That or, any takers?

[This thread was previously named "Maxwell's Demon" and after that "Darl181's projects"]

On IRC a couple of days ago (just after I hacked my Casio) i mentioned one of the games I saw on casiocalc.org (look for "BallGame" on this page).
The object is to move the gap in the dividing wall up and down to sort the balls: black on the left, white on the right.  Once you win, you can try again with one more ball than before.

It chooses black/white at random so it may be unbalanced.
Collision detection with the wall can be better, I'm kind of at a loss about what's causing the problems for the moment :P
I might spice up some graphics as well.
I also need to come up with a better title...

TWHG is still going, I'm just taking a break from it.

EDIT: Update here. (V2)
EDIT2: Bigger update.

TI Z80 / The World's Hardest Game

a hard level http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=4938.0;attach=4416
some more levels http://ourl.ca/7535/140139

Since sometime in July, I've been working on porting The World's Hardest Game to Axe.  Finally, I've finished it.
In this game, you pick up 'coins' while avoiding enemies and then try to reach the finish.  Some levels may be easy, while others may be harder.
I went further than the flash version goes, however, and made a level editor.  The levels are created as appvars, but you can export them to linking-program-friendly programs and back again.

The game is compatible with the 83+BE, yet it contains a Full Speed Mode option.
More screenies.

Known bugs

Using teacher key (DEL), sometimes the location of the player sprite is shifted around, specifically from the very top to the very bottom.

Also, full speed is not reactivated on continue.  It's probably more of an asset than a bug to the person playing it, though.

Sometimes, an enemy seems to get corrupted and is displayed something like a pair of parenthesis while moving twice as fast.

Compile the level editor as an app.  The game can be a program.  The sample level needs to be imported before it can be played.  Just do it at the level select screen.
Also I feel that I should inform you that this program may cause you to lose the game...

EDIT: Current version here (link goes to the post)

I've been here for months, but oh well.
Hi.  My web alias is darl.  It's not my real name, but I prefer Darl to be used.  I live in the San Fransisco bay area.  I've been programming for less than a year.  I'm now a junior in high school.
And I have now officially started a topic.
