News / In memory of Tribal (1992-2013)
« on: October 22, 2013, 09:13:14 pm »
We are sad to inform you that one of our old-time moderators and friends took his life this past weekend. Tribal was a Support staff member who joined at the start of this era of Omnimaga back in the fall of 2008. He was also a member of the community before Omnimaga: he joined Cemetech a year prior, in September 2007. In this time, Tribal did not start or work on many projects with the community; instead he devoted his time around to talking with people engaging in good conversation and making sure that the peace was kept when it needed to be. He moderated our IRC channel back when it was on Dragonfire, and continued to do so all the way into the arrival of Omninet and the botnets that connected it and EfNet. With this we are asking people that knew him well to sign this form so we can print a card out for the family and send it to them to show our sympathy and support.

The memorial service for tribal was yesterday(friday the 25th). One of our members, Rcfreak0, went to this service to show his condolences to the family and to pass along a card that had everyone who contributed it. May he rest in peace and live on in memory and heaven for along time to come

News / Contest 2013 Calculator Gaming Roots
« on: September 23, 2013, 11:59:43 pm »

This year our contest is about what makes gaming on the calculator fun. That means simple games that make you want to go back and play over and over again. Not because they are technically challenging or visually the most interesting, but because the concept makes the game stand out as an enjoyable item to have on your calculator. For this contest, we are focusing on the TI-83+ series (TI-83+/SE,TI-84+/SE). Please see below for the list of categories.

We have 2 categories this year:
  • 1. BASIC
  • 2. Axe/Assembly/Hybrid BASIC

Contestants should email their entries to O M N I M A G A 2 0 1 3 @gmail.com by November 5th 2013, 12:00 AM UTC-5. Please remember to include a readme file with your entry and instructions on how to play your game. Also remember to include information on any libraries that may be needed in order to run your game.

Rules:

1: The game must not contain adult material or extremely offensive content (such as racial slurs).

2: You are not allowed to enter a project that was started prior the start of the contest. You can use code, images, and ideas from it, though.

3: You are allowed (and encouraged) to announce updates and screenshots of your project anywhere, but you are NOT allowed to provide any download copies of it (or the entire source code) to anyone until the end of the contest.

4: Help is allowed, as long as you respect rule #3. Also, keep in mind that usage of other people's code may affect your originality score considerably.

5: You must have a forum account to participate.

6: Only one entry per person per category is allowed

7: Your entry must be submitted before November 6th 2013, 11:59 PM UTC-5. We will not be accepting any more entries past this deadline.

8: Omnimaga has the right to change and modify the rules at any time.

Forum members interested in judging should message a staff member. You may judge any category that you are not participating in. A grading rubric will be posted soon as it has been typed up. Good luck everyone!

So people were having issues with telling what style programs we are looking for so I figure I would add screenies and links to some games that fit the description. Now this isn't saying there would make good entries its just the style of game play we are looking for. so here you all go

http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/96/9683.html

http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/341/34139.html

http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/259/25959.html

http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=450

These are all games that you can pick up and play and are simple to understand yet will keep you coming back to play more and that is what we want to see.

If you have any questions please pm me i will answer them as fast as I can.

Good luck!

News / Server maintenance and Possible Down Time
« on: September 20, 2013, 02:25:04 pm »
Today me and Eeems have started a long been wanted process of moving Omnimaga to a new host once again. We have been on amazon web services for a bit over a year now and its just to expensive for us to keep us running. We have started the move over to Ubiquity which has served eeems for over a year hosting eeems.ca. This move will take place over the next 48hours or so, During this time we please ask you to keep in mind the website might seem spotty but it will be back shortly at any of these occasions.

I will keep this post updated with the status of everything:

As of now the post database has been migrated and slowly everything else will be. I will also post the new ip for people with slow dns's once we make that change.

Thank you
~The Management

News / Scheduled Maintenance - 06/28/13
« on: June 28, 2013, 03:53:54 pm »
The server may have some down time tonight as I fix our IPTABLEs setup so I can properly block bots and ip's from the server with out having to log in to the AWS control panel.  Estimated down time should be at max 30 minutes (unless i really fubar something but that shouldn't happen...) The maintenance has no set time I will edit this when I have a set time I just know it will be tonight/very early morning (Think around 12:00am Gmt-5)

I blocked the offenders on the cloudflare side of things for now. I will still be fixing iptables though.

EDIT: I broke everything....going to try again tommorow...with the Cronjob set up PROPERLY <-- i feel like a tart yeah.....

Thank you- The management

The Axe Parser Project / Calcnet Axiom
« on: February 10, 2012, 10:35:16 pm »
Planed features:
-Interact with calcnet routines and such for handeling data
-Offer data handlers that may be slow but will help prevent misfires
-Anything else you want like things to manage connections and such
-The mandatory splash screen for gcn (you can just add in the required image to your game if you want will explain in readme)

Issues:
I can say now. L1 and L3 will suffer if you use calcnet nothing can be done about it it is where Kerm keeps the stuff CalcNet lives on

The Key routines will mimic axe's but will  not be the same

anything else thats needed or wanted ask. I will also be using this thread for help on making axioms as some of it is like LOLWUT to me. but at least I get calcnet xD

Currently Accomplished:

 Command set:
SetS Sets the ok to send flag
ResS Resets the ok to send flag  note i see no applicable use other than to change data if the data in the buffer was not sent in a reasonable time
SetR Sets the "you got data" flag, only applicable use is to block incoming messages
ResR Resets the "You got data flah" Allows more data to come in

GetS returns the send buffer flag
GetR returns the recieve buffer flag

There is also a wrapper that sets up pointers for use.

Correlation / #Omnimaga - The RPG
« on: March 29, 2011, 06:14:32 pm »
Well i love the old style and charm of Interactive Fiction games

if you Don't know what these are. http://www.ifwiki.org/index.php/FAQ should get you in the right direction.

Now that thats cleared up what is #Omnimaga - The RPG

Well it intends to be a unlinear(ish) exploration rpg in the land of #Omnimaga's Memes

Cherry dragons lolis and evil clones and all

There really is no goal set as to what the "object" of the rpg is. There will really be no leveling up there will be hidden areas and puzzles and such though to get threw to get to all the areas ^_^

Other than that thats all i have so far.

OH and for the record this hopefully will be an example of a good text based RPG ;)
