I'm a little dismayed and sort of sad that there aren't many African-American programmers.  I'm wondering if there are any here on this site or if I'm all alone.  So yeah... step up! Show yourselves!

I saw this thread and I knew I had to jump in.
I have an intersting relligious development in my 16 years of life.  When I was a wee little lad, my brother and I used to blame all the bad things on "God and Jesus".  We used to say it was all their fault.  As we grew older we went through a super religious phase.  Now that I'm older, I am agnostic, not atheist, but agnostic.  I find the concept of religion to be annoying, but Chrisitanity by far really upsets me.  As a generalization, Christians believe that they are the only religion and that all other religions are completely false.  They feel they will be the ones to live while everyone else suffers in H E double hockey sticks.  Zero tolerance...
At Muslims have some sort of respect for Christianity because of the same sort of belief in one supreme being.

Religion in general, however, is silly.  We use it like myths to explain things we really can't.  We use it only when it suits us and when we feel like we need something to make us feel better.  Also, I feel that all religions are false.  They have no truth in them at all.  My opinion on death might seem... strange, however.  To me death is death.  I do not fear death because its not like after you die you're gonna be all upset that you're dead right? (Yeah that's pretty bad...)  It just happens, there's no afterlife just an end.

I was thinking about it... I might or I might not.  Right now I'm not sure.  You play a demigod in this game and you learn new techniques and attacks as you develop during the game.

How would you go about allowing moving objects on the screen with the interrupt running?  Would you have to somehow sync the refresh rate with the amount of frames? (Sorry if I worded that incorrectly)

Another bump just to say this isn't dead.  The only thing that will be changed aout this game is that it will be an ARPG but slight different in that it will also have magic hotkeys where a certain spell or technique is executed when a certain button is pressed.  I haven't worked on ths much but expect to see more updates on this in the future.

Yes the "MMO" part will be removed and it will be single-player.
The plan is for it to be a single player game.  I do plan to get to it (this year) and complete it but first I'm going to work on Rebirth: The Soul of Icarus first so that I will be prepared for a much bigger project such as this.

Yes the "MMO" part will be removed and it will be single-player.  I understand what you mean about the engine and you are right.. I should get that down before I get too ahead of myself.  Instead of a community project I could simply make it open-source but it will still be my project.

TI Z80 / Vulcan's Labyrinth - A z80 Spiral Knights Clone

Greetings Omnimaga! I came up with this idea a few days when I was thinking of the world layout for another project of mine, Rebirth: The Soul of Icarus.  Basically the title says it all: it's a Spiral Knights clone.  I'm not sure of sprite size just yet but I've started thinking about some of the concepts story and gameplay wise.  It will be, of course an ARPG except it will be set in a Greek/Roman/Fantasy mythology mashup world. Backstory and Background information:
Vulcan, the Roman equivalent to the Greek god Hephaestus, the blacksmith god, created a special labyrinth commissioned by Zeus in order seal away the mountain Olympus, which fell to Earth after Hades corrupted it.  Eventually, the whole labyrinth became corrupted as well as the fallen gods and it merged itself with the Underworld.  Your goal is to explore this mysterious labyrinth, defeat the corrupted gods, end the reign of Hades, and restore Olympus.  The world's survival depends on your success.  But don't worry, you won't be alone.  Many other soldiers have also taken up this cause and will work alongside you on your mission.

So yeah... my current vision is to make the game endless.  Meaning that-you-may-have-reached-the-center-and-fought-all-the-bosses-but-your-quest-isn't-over sort of endless.  Hopefully I can make it expandable with expansion packs and new quests and side-missions and maps and whatnot.  Yeah.. it's pretty ambitious.  But I do hope to finish Rebirth first though.
Thoughts? Comments? Oh, and do you think it would be better off as a community project?

Bumpity bump... It's been a while since I logged on and posted but this isn't dead nor will it ever be (I hope). Also just in case no one has seen this yet this is an attempt at a decent RPG.

Oh yeah... details... It will be 8x8 tiles with 3 lvl grayscale. The battle engine will be a CIBS or Contact Initiated Battle System (Heh, I made that up...) where in the overworld you make contact with the enemy and a battle is initiated sort of like Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories but it will be turn based with inspiration from FF and Reuben Quest in layout. The game will be organized into various strata (Dante's Inferno influence) where you go deeper and deeper into the underworld where you eventually face Hades. I will hopefully implement smooth-scrolling.

Oh thanks! I saw this option but I wasn't sure if it was that was the only way to do it.
