OmnomIRC Development / Re: OmnomIRC changelog and suggestions
« on: May 19, 2016, 05:03:12 pm »
So, I updated omnomirc now, stuff /should/ be working, but who knows....
Soo.... What did you specifically update? stuff is confusing me. ???

Nspiroid update v1.40:

What's new: Support for theming (aka skinning) the keypad. A simple theme editor for the keypad keyBackground gradient drawable is included.

Theme editor features:
 * Offers a choice of different(16) background gradients and then lets you modify each of them, for instance: the stroke's width and color, the corner radius and the gradient angle.
 * You can save the edited theme to a file and also load a new theme from file.
 * In case you don't like the changes you can always revert to the initial theme (the grayish one)

Some effort has been put onto this extra facility, but is not yet finished, as usual . Final touches always require more time. Anyway, I feel it's time to let you know about it.
Other than that, I also did some better tunning of the supported devices layouts.

Attached are two animated gifs for Nspiroid and its theme editor made with screenies from my phone (Asus Selfie). Things will look a bit different on tablets, but the functionality should be about the same.

As always, please report any bug you might find. Have fun with colors,

Edit1: I forgot to mention that Nspiroid themes (aka skins) are stored in the /sdcard/nspire/skins directory, which must exist.
Edit2: I'm attaching a sample theme file 'Nspiroid_Theme_QuickStart.txt' which you can place in your phone/tablet's /sdcard/nspire/skins directory.
After the theme is loaded ("Settings->Keypad theme->Save or load theme->Load...->Load Nspiroid theme") Nspiroid should look like the next attached picture 'QuickStartTheme_land_MemoPad.png'.

However, the current skin is quite broken due to how it grew historically, it's just a mess all over.

Anybody want to help on writing a new one? As the core is seperated etc. you don't have to have any idea at all as to how things are working in the background, all you'd need to do is write the front-end page thingy, the omnomirc.js core takes part of the reset :)
Hellooo Soru,

Out of my experience I can say the following: when you are in need for help to start up any project you fancy, most of the times nobody steps forward until the moment the thing gets a bit spicy.
So my suggestion (forgive the advice) would be: first take a bite at it; let others know about your progress; and then quite likely you'll uncover some interested followers and/or contributors.
It has already happened to me some times in the past, unfortunately.

So yeah, give it shot and we'll see. ;)

The only skin available currently is the current one that you use all the time :p
Well, it's probably just me (yet again). All I get on my FF 42.0 is this (green face <att. below>). Sooo, no lobster s**t (unless it got green-ish  :P)

However, this system would easily allow writing a skin to make it look like a facebook-chat with a bottom bar and stuff.
I think you should go ahead and implement that fb-like bottom bar. You'll have fun for sure, once it's done. ;)

So, what do you guys think?
If I understand it correctly, it seems to be a 'pretty' idea. However, you are talking about 'skins' (and lobsters, hehe) and I don't see any screenshots? :P

Hi there,

I've been working on a way to theme Nspiroid and I think by now I already have a solution on how to do it.  Below you can get a feel for the looks' difference using the standard theme and a gradient background one. The example shows a Samsung Tab S2 8.0 'wearing' the default theme versus a colorized one.

Usually math geeks do not give much importance to these accessory details. I personally think it can be fun for some young people, though. ;)

TI-Nspire / Re: Ndless Commander 0.4 -- TI-Nspire File Browser

....
can we get the TNS. file ? ;)

Well, maybe  :-\

Procedure:
1. Download this ndless version that still works on windows: ndless-v3.6-beta-r990-sdk.zip
which i've just uploaded here: http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=13615468116496279843
Is a bit old but should be more than enough.

2. Go to this topic's first page and download 'nc0.4.zip' https://www.omnimaga.org/ti-nspire-projects/ndless-commander-0-4-ti-nspire-file-browser/msg304508/#msg304508

3. Install ndless sdk v3.6-beta, try to compile one or two samples, and later recompile nc to regenerate NC.tns It should be straightforward (if we have the very basics in programming)

4. If all goes well, your are just about ready to also (re)compile ajorians's files, making a project copy and replacing the files with the same name.

Let us know about your progress.
Good luck,  ;)

Hmm, I don't seen that quote anywhere, or is it implicit in @c4ooo comments? Anyways, still plenty of time until next September,  IIRC :P

Is coming along quite nicely, tho. Please do keep it up! :thumbsup:

TI-Nspire / Re: kArmTI - TI-Nspire emulator with skin
« on: April 13, 2016, 06:49:18 am »
@SpiroH: Great! Thanks for your help. I succeded to install 4.2 on kArmTI 1.80. So far I've just tried the 3D-Graphing which works fine.
Good, I'm glad you succeeded. You're welcome! :)

Quote
The latest kArmTI 1.81 crashes on my Windows 7 immediately after starting. The Calculator Interface appears only for a split second and disappears immediately, even after creating a new flash file with kArmTi 1.80 and it's running OS 4.2 and renaming the *.bin into TI_NspireCXCAS_4.2.0.532_N128.bin like you did in the screenshot.
It crashed also with the old boot2.img and old OS when I tried it last week.
Hmm, that's weird, it has never happened on my window 7 system.

Suggestion: Please try to delete this registry key  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ScrapLab\kArmTI_x86_v1.81 and try again. It should work with a clean registry key, if not please report it back again.

@cobalt: Hi again,

I might have some good news for you. If you are curious about OS 4.2 you can try it out on kArmTI (I'd recommend v1.81).
The only thing you need is your old Boot1cx.img (v3.0.0.99) which is good to boot OS4.2.

Please try the following method:

1. From TI download this file : TI_NspireCXCAS_4.2.0.532.tcc
2. Make a copy of it and rename the copy to TI_NspireCXCAS_4.2.0.532.zip
3. Open up the zip archive and extract the file boot2.img, (i.e., simply drag it out from the zip archive).
4. (Optional) Rename boot2.img to Boot2cx.img.
5. You may now throw away TI_NspireCXCAS_4.2.0.532.zip

Now we have all you need (i.e., the needed files) to have a go around the new OS4.2 on kArmTI v1.81, namely : Boot1cx.img, Boot2cx.img and the TI_NspireCXCAS_4.2.0.532.tcc.

Have a look at this post: https://www.omnimaga.org/ti-nspire-projects/karmti-ti-nspire-emulator-with-skin-16585/msg403896/?PHPSESSID=vjq7ejsjqc2bsgq0e9smakmc32#msg403896
and check the boot picture, it may help you further.

So far (little free time, ATM), I've only tested kArmTI v1.81 running OS4.2 on windows 7 and apparently it runs just fine.

Good luck with your TI OS4.2 explorations.

TI-Nspire / Re: kArmTI - TI-Nspire emulator with skin

Hi @cobalt

is it possible to update the OS of the kArmTI (or the Android emulator nspiroid) directly with the *.tcc-file?
Why would you want to do that, in the first place?

Quote
In the kArmTI-Menü "Link" there's the option "Send OS Update" which let's me choose a file.
But if I choose the *.tcc-file ist says "transfer failed. check the connection and try again". So this doens't seem to be a function to update the OS?
That kArmTI-Menu "Link" option "Send OS Update", is there only to send 'special files' like, for eg. to install the previous version of ndless (outdated by now), eg,
for ndless-v3.1-beta-r557, you can get the following from its  'How to Install':
-----------
Locate the file ‘ndless_installer-.tno|tnc|tco|tcc‘ in the ‘calcbin/‘ directory of Ndless which matches your device type:
    * .tno: classic TI-Nspire
    * .tnc: classic TI-Nspire CAS
    * .tco: TI-Nspire CX
    * .tcc: TI-Nspire CX CAS
Send this file as an OS upgrade to the calculator.
------------------------
Please take note of a few things:
1. the OS update must match the version of the OS you have installed in kArmTI, eg for CX CAS the update file has to have the .tcc extension.
2. that OS update file, needs to be a specially prepared OS update file.
3. before you use that menu option you need to ensure that the USB link is in a 'connected state', ie, by using Menu 'Link->USB Link Connect' before hand.

As a final remark, I would only add that the easiest way to upgrade the OS file that kArmTI is using, is simply to download that new OS version from TI's download site or from TI-Planet and proceed as you would when preparing a new flash file to run on kArmTI (or Nspiroid for that matter). I've written a few notes (pdf's) on how to get you started with kArmTI, whose links you can still find in the topic's first page.

I hope this helps you with your doubts.
Have a nice day.

Sorry people, my bad...
...
Anyway, no excuse for the post, sorry for your time once more,
No problem, you are welcome.

I'm glad that you fixed it by yourself. Actually, I just tried you example on OS4.2.0.532 and I was getting a slightly different solution.
Well, nvm, it only happens when you dare to do things  ;).

Keep in mind, we are all volunteers and we will work on resolving/implementing these changes as our personal lives permit.
We know that and we do really appreciate yours and the team's volunteer work effort! Here we're just brainstorming the theme, maybe some bright idea will come out of it (that's the point), please don't take it too seriously  :).

@Other people:
If you occasionally visit this place and it appears as though there are no news, please think twice, it might just be that the brains are forging some idea, and obviously humans that come up with any meaningful idea(s) are often rather slow. So, my suggestion is, take a long breath and use your precious free time to read thru some of the wonderful projects (not all at once, OFC) that already exist inside the about 150 boards on this site. Also, other sites' activity is often related to how much people are in need just to talk about different aspects of life (their) either school, professional or emotional and not necessarily project related.
