News / Re: OSLauncher, LUA to TNS converter and TI document player
« on: April 15, 2011, 07:16:50 am »
On April 1st, TI-BANK posted a video showing what was supposed to be OSLauncher, the equivalent of Boot2Launcher and DiagsLauncher, but for TI-Nspire OSes. The video was an April Fools joke, but with the release of DiagsLauncher and Boot2Launcher not long before, it was inevitable that OSLauncher would eventually become a reality. Today it did and it has been released in TI-BANK archives! This extra file is required to use it.

OSLauncher can be useful, for example, if you absolutely need a more recent OS to run tns files that are only compatible with it or to use more functionalities, but that you still need the ability to run Ndless, which requires an older OS, or want to run a modified OS. Basically you can have multiple OSes on your calculator at once! Note, however, that not every OS combination will work, such as an OS 3.0 image on OS 2.x, according to mikehill2003.

Still related to TI-Nspire stuff, there is now a Lua to TNS converter as well! You need 7za (7-Zip) to use it.

UPDATE: A Python version is now available too and the shell version is updated non-stop!
UPDATE 2 (21:42): Jkag has just released another version with a GUI for those who can't run .sh or python files!
UPDATE 3 (04/15/11): Jkag has made a Linux version of his version of his  converter.

In other news, TI-BANK reports that Texas Instruments has put online a TNS player. It opens both TI-BASIC and Lua documents, but it is not supported by all browsers, might be very slow and doesn't appear to support all controls yet (arrows doesn't work in Goplat's 15 Puzzle clone, for example).

A lot of news with the CX. I'm testing the TI NSpire Player now, thanks for reporting the situation DJ.

Lua / Re: Can you code in Lua?
« on: April 15, 2011, 07:15:14 am »
i asked some months ago to the technical support of TI about the posibility of an SDK for the Nspire, they answer me that the SDK was possible in models like ti-89 titanium because this calculators was using flashROM, but the nspire don´t use this, the lua posibility to programing will be usefull, but ASM programing couldn't be posible

Um, the Nspire uses Flash ROM too. Also, ASM is already possible on the regular Nspire, so it should be possible on the CX as well.

I'm pretty sure they lied, the NSpire uses Flash ROM.

In the meanwhile, no SDK available here.

I think he's trying to get it to not word-wrap (soft line breaks).

I think it's under View > Word Wrap or something like that. Uncheck it and it should work.

View>"Moldar" (portuguese)

It worked great :D

I put this in this forum because I thought it was some \ character, I tried .replace('\r','') but it didn't work.

You can run any hardware-compatible OS.
They're not checked before being run, so you don't have to bother with the RSA 1024-bits key :P

So, you can run third party OSes or modified TI OSes for example. ^^
Sweet.
I'm still compiling ndless...
The OS needs to be unencrypted, right?

Not sure if you know but brooom has a auto ndless compiler compiles ndless every day.

Well, I knew OSLauncher was being worked on, so I didn't even watch the video (I did note the day you placed the news article, though, that did confuse me) As long as it's not too easy to place CAS on a regular nspire it sounds awesome.

It's not April 1st anymore, so go get it... while you can!

I was just wondering how you organize your(s) calculator-programming-related folder(s) in your computer.

I have a big Texas folder with all inside, I decided to tree it for you:

I have this string and this is how it looks on Notepad++:

However, I'd like it to be all in the same line, but with side-scrolling, I don't want them fixed to avoid side-scrolling, I really want side-scrolling, all in one line.

Any idea of how to achieve that? Thanks.

Tried it last night.  I only tested moving around the pointer to change the level, and something activated the level creating/deleting code, which by the way made a 31K appvar that, upon recall to TIOS, caused the BLOD and a RAM clear.  So yeah, I think I'm going to need some help with this :P

In other news, got level switching working in the game, no BLODs or whatever, fortunately.

EDIT: the typewith.me went down, so up went an etherpad.  http://etherpad.mozilla.org:9000/3DGcJ1sDcZ

If you need any help just post it :D

Lua / Re: Can you code in Lua?
« on: April 14, 2011, 03:11:31 pm »
I know Lua extremely well :)  It's actually a very powerful language for an interpreter, and I like it much more than python, because of stright out OOP, it has a much simpler table system -- it can be a pain for some applications, but for others it saves some programming time, and helps you think of the object easier :)

I don't wanna discuss this, but Python's OOP is better than Lua's.

I accidentally voted no, but will learn. I meant to vote no, and will not learn. I really have no reason to learn LUA as i don't own or program for the Nspire.

I think you can change your vote, though.

I know there's dim(22 but I'd like a command that lets us type hex for several lines:

Code: [Select]
dim(X
210100
EF0745
EF7942

Can that be done in BatLib or ReCode?
