Other Calculators / Re: SirCmpwn's Projects Suspended
« on: December 10, 2010, 11:14:58 pm »
Wow, it almost sounds like where I'm headed. My parents want me to be as perfect as possible, anything they don't like about what I do, they forbid it. I've tried reasonable conversations too, but they never consider what I say, for the most part these conversations end up being shouting matches, most of them ending with them unable to give a reasonable response "We are your parents, you HAVE to do what we say. This is coming from the people that say "you always have a choice." What kind of Bullshit is that? Now when they say "would you like to...." or "Do you want to...." the only reply that their happy with is something along the lines of "your wish is my command." kind of thing, if I reply with the obvious truth "Don't bother asking because no matter what I say you'll go ahead and make me do whatever you want anyways." they get pissed and yell at me. I've been trying to find ways to cope with my home situation by finding things to do to take my mind off of it, but each time they seem to be purposely attempting to break down anyway I have of coping. Games:Banned, TV:Banned, Computer(for personal use):Banned, Free Will:Banned, i wouldn't be surprised if soon I am banned from playing tennis too. The one thing I've found that my parents can't affect, is one of my close friends who is currently planning on dropping out of the IB program and transferring to another school because of her grades. I know that she can do better, but when I tried to help motivate her, she just lashed back and told me I was a hypocrite because I never do my math homework. She has refused to talk to me again until January 29. Slowly all my methods of coping are being destroyed, and the new ones that I find are less and less effective. I've lost the reason that I had to do well, I've even forgotten that reason now.

The sad part is, I would guess quite a few people got that question wrong. :(

I hope no one got it as wrong as this

X = banana

lol

Hmmmmm... I took a look at those websites, your parents seem to be pretty established in programming and nerd-dom themselves (or at least they say they are). I can't understand why they wouldn't want you programming. Any ideas why?

Well I took the SAT last week and I found what I think is stupidest question ever on it.

Solve for X
X*1 = 3/5

Isn't the SAT supposed to measure readiness for college?!?! This is more like readiness for 6th grade!!!!

For those in the US, I assume you're aware of the No child Left behind BS that forces those state tests. On one I had a long time ago, it asked what the name of a rectangular shape with four sides at 90 degress from each other was:

A) Triangle.
B) Circle
C) Rectangle
D) Parallelogram.

 ::)

But the SAT doesn't qualify as a state test does it? I thought it was produced independently by The College Board.

Admittedly i did have to tutor someone in adding fractions, but i think that the majority of High School students should be able to handle something more advanced than these. If the test is too easy then it won't really show the potential for smarter students.

Wow that's almost as bad, what are these test makers thinking?

Also the Chemitab idea is awesome. Just as an head up: there was an official one in Flash APP format by Texas Instruments back in 1999-2001 too. However, it was a paid app that couldn't be sent from one calc to another. I don't know if it's still available anywhere anymore (it used to come with 83+SE calcs). It's nice to see a new one that is both pic-free and freeware.

Wait it can't be sent from calc to calc? But I got it and sent it around just fine last year.

No I mean I have no way to measure the volume except when it actually plays something. Windows usually has a little icon at the bottom right that lets you open a volume percentage bar, I don't have that.

I can change the volume, i just have no idea how loud it is until the speakers blow my ears off.   so whenever something plays i look like this ->O.O :o
