And you can only pick one of them in the poll D:

EDIT: ninja'd? Also, unfortunately, I can't change the poll :(

Computer Usage and Setup Help / Re: Linux
« on: April 22, 2011, 09:24:14 pm »
Few Linux distributions are paid for ;)
There are paid ones??? O.O
Yeah, Red Hat, for example. In fact, in Red Hat's case, it comes with paid technical support, the rest is free software. CentOS is exactly like Red Hat, but without the paid technical support and the branding. Many paid distros are like this.

I never used Linux, but I got told by many people that if I am not very tech-savy, I should start with Ubuntu or Mint. Before, people would only recommend me Ubuntu, but in the past two years it's more Mint.
Same, I saw people recommending Mint a lot more lately, saying it's better for Linux n00bs than Ubuntu, since more software you usually always install on Ubuntu after installation comes pre-installed.

Hahaha. xkcd is one of my favorite webcomics. I love geek jokes.

Also, the comic's alt text is fun.

Go with Ubuntu. You can't really be wrong with Ubuntu.

I agree with everyone: Ubuntu for beginners, Debian if you want stability (such as servers), Arch Linux for more advanced users (like me) and if you want bleeding-edge software, and Gentoo or LFS for Linux freaks. I usually classify distros in these 4 categories.

Personally, I began with Ubuntu, then switched to Arch Linux and I have Debian or Ubuntu Server on my servers.

47: Make sure a drawing of a clover made only with parametric functions is the coolest thing you can do with the calc. Of course, make the render horribly slow. Remember, 'function' has the word 'fun' in it.

Well, it didn't happened since a while, and we have better security now (geekboy will tell you), both personally and on the Minecraft server, he will never get my password again :P Also they are not interested in trolling Omni anyway.

And, on topic, I think we'll break our 700+ post a day record really soon.

Miscellaneous / Re: Latin thread

Lorem Ipsum is fake latin... based on real latin.

Also I would love if my school actually gave latin courses. Since Vatican II, Latin is not really useful anymore, so they stopped giving latin courses here.

Well, you can look at others webcomics for inspiration, such as xkcd.

I think there's a Wordpress plugin for webcomics.

I just found USB support is in libogc with functions like USB_OpenDevice, IOS_Open and things like that. I'll need to do some research.

Juju, the two things that would be needed to do this are glib and libusb, if you can port both of those to the wii, or replace their uses with equivalent functions that would be what you need.
Yeah, I'm sure devkitpro have a libusb somewhere. And I think it's what the OS-specific code in the win32/64/linux directory does, do things with the USB port and the OS.

graphmastur: Yeah, there are libs for the keyboard, mouse, and pretty much every filesystem. These could be useful later when writing programs dealing with .8x* files.
