yea, a desktop of the similar specs would be like 500$(well, I may be exagerating, but I have a C2D, 7900GS, 1GB ram, 160GB HD for $500)

that is what Linuxes built in printscreen does, but it didn't capture my whole screen. It only got like the top right 30%
Actually, on that screenshot, that highlighted icon, screenshot.png , shows how much the default screenshot took.
I had almost the same theme as my Vista theme on Ubuntu, but Beryl doesn't do xinerama, so I had to loose it.

I've actually had some issues with printscreen on a larger setup(more than one head.) I had a utility for Windows, but I forgot what it was called. For Linux, I use Gimp. Also, no, that picture isn't the right size, it is only 1600x1200. It is also stretched out among 4 monitors so it looks like crap. I can't stand low resolutions.
@ spelli: DVDs? Wtf are you talking about, those cost money. Fansubs ftw! |
High Resolutions? :pop:

Dunn.... Dunn...... Dunn.................... 4 Monitors on 1 PC! top 2 are at 1024x768, the bottom 2 are at 1600x1200. Also, I can't pull this off in Windows, I can only do it in Linux.

well, that keyboard is... in pieces. same for the mouse. Im rough on my preheprials. Also, I had them on a 733MHz for a while. They didn't stand a chance. >)
Also, I have a 24" Compaq here too, but I use it as a TV because it is going out and it is too fuzzy for text. >.< QuoteBegin

I know. But each monitor itself is like 1600x1200. |
yup. In Linux, as soon as I finish configuring my xorg.conf, I *should* have 4 off of this PC. QuoteBegin --> QUOTE | That's insane resolution! I do engineering CAD at work and the lcd screens that are there aren't even that large. You must be using a CRT monitor. (I don't think lcd screens even come in that size) |
Yup, I have 2 21" CRT's they are on.

Yes, when I have breaks from school I can check more often. Also, thanks for leaving me as staff, DJ Omnimaga. I *hope* that I can return, and be at least as active as ranman(shouldn't be hard. .) Also, I have loved being at Omnimaga. you did a good job of making a community.

well, this post is going to be a hard post to make, but I think I will give it a shot. I have been really busy in IRL, and I don't have the time to dedicate to Omnimaga that I wish I had. In fact, it is kind of becoming a burden on me to come and check it. You may have noticed my recent decline in activity on the forums and on IRC, and this is because I am in 7 classes at school, working, and I am kind of stressed at the moment. I can also no longer guarintee that I will be able to log on to IRC, or check the forums daily, even weekly. I hope that once I get things straightened out, I will be able to return, but until then, I think I am going to have to say good bye to Omnimaga, for the most part. I hope that I can still be somewhat active on the forums, and log on to IRC at least once a week. So, I guess that this is my resignation letter from the Coders of Tomorrow group. I've been really happy at Omnimaga, and this past year since I joined has been a fun time. I hope that you all do good in your lives. Just so you know the impact you guys have had on my life, I literally cried typing this message. --Nathan Ladwig

yea, I built my current PC(a C2D w/ an nvidia 7900GS OC'ed, 1GB of ram(runs vista Ultimate pretty well) and a 160GB HD, DVD+-RW DL burner and such) only cost me about $550, and was about $900 prebuilt from Dell with a whole bunch of crapware and adware to delete. The bad things about that PC - AMD DualCore is bad compared to a similiar Intel Core 2 Duo
- Walmart
  - Vista Home Basic
- crapware that comes on prebuilt PCs
- 1GB of RAM + Vista(yes, I know I only have 1GB too)
- 160 GB HD(yes, I know, I have a 160GB HD too, and it fills so damn fast!)
- $400, when you are mostly paying for a windows license when you could put your own windows on it.
The good things about that PC - cheap
- easy to use right out of the box
- somewhat decent graphics card, I've seen much worse IGPs, but you won't be able to get any great quality out of it.
The bad things about my PC - 1GB of RAM
- 160 GB HD
- heat issues
The good things about my PC - no crapware
- Vista Ultimate/XP Home/Ubuntu Tri-boot
- small(have it in a home theater case)
- nvidia 7900 GS
- DVD+-RW DL burner
- Intel Core 2 Duo
- only cost $150 more than your PC(not including the OS)
- cost $550, Vs. the $900 prebuilt counterpart at the time of me making it.
Also, if you want, I'm sure someone in the community * Netham45

The portal seems to load about half the time for me. Sometimes it loads when I go to http://omnimaga.org/ and sometimes it doesn't. Also, the subform title "Question, comments, suggestion g and bug reports" is misspelled.
