Miscellaneous / Re: Religion Discussion
« on: October 02, 2013, 05:31:23 am »
That said, in the Koran, it DOES endorse a holy war, or Jihad, but this has already happened, as in the Crusades.

I'm not going to get into this discussion, just a quick remark about the statement above: "Jihad" does not mean "holy war", even if that's what most western mainstream media as well as some deranged clerics from the Muslim world want you to believe. The word actually translates as "effort". In Qur'an it refers to the fact that Muslims should work hard to make a better person out of themselves.

Since yesterday, whenever I try to access omnimaga.org, I'm greeted by this:

Other / Re: Why are headphones so expensive now?

Dunno if they're available in Canada, but Philips SHL3000 are a great deal if you want to get cheap headphones. Been using mine for ages, still working 100% despite heavy-duty use.

That's a ZX81 keyboard. Looks exactly like this, unfortunately - there are no real keys or anything ;) Believe me, it sucks, even though the idea of having the BASIC tokens on-keyboard was pretty neat. Sinclair got it right with the next machine though - the rubber 48K keyboard is awesome.

... or that apple tab thingy where you need no buttons at all cause you can just throw it out of the window *ducks*

Btw, a real keyboard looks like this, of course:

ASM / Re: 82 Parcus documentation
« on: September 12, 2013, 01:28:07 pm »
Parcus calcs are ugly IMHO. :P

Not just that, they seem to be made from the cheapest plastic available, the keys feel akward, and the link port is a joke. Mine already starts to wear out after using it maybe 10 times.

Ironically, the TI-83 Parcus model came out one year after the TI-83 Plus and the TI-83 Plus never saw a Parcus redesign. ???

Fortunately it didn't, one might add. But well, it's not too late yet... maybe TI will release one in order to try and cash in on "developing" markets.

Wait what, there's an 83 Parcus? Oh boy... And as luck has it, it seems to use a different ROM and display driver, too.

Sorry for the load of edits ;)

ASM / 82 Parcus documentation
« on: September 12, 2013, 08:58:06 am »
I've searched everywhere for some proper documentation on the TI-82 "Parcus" and ROM 19.006, and so far haven't found much except the modified crash.inc by Jumbo and the 82-rom.txt by Lindqvist and Justesen.

So I thought let's start a thread for collecting documentation about the Parcus, TI-OS 19.006, and possibly other more obscure Z80 models.

One thing I've confirmed now is that the Parcus uses TI-83 style link port management. That means the correct values for the link port are $D0..$D3 rather than $FC/$C0/etc.

There might be something different about key handling, too. Today I managed to crash HoustonTracker by pressing the VARS key, which dutifully acts as stop button in all other versions. Will update this post if I can find out more.

Whoa, rad stuff.
I don't remember the last time doing papercraft, must've been nearly 20 years ago now. Back then the design had to be done by hand  :o

There are USB solutions for Amiga. For later models (1200/2000/4000) they are a viable option. Older models however require some rather tricky hardware modding. So over all, IDE interfacing is the better (and cheaper) alternative on these machines.

TI Z80 / Re: Houston Tracker - 1-bit music editor

After taking a break to take care of my personal life I'm now working on HT again. And more importantly, I've finally gotten around to publishing the source code.

I didn't clean up yet so the code is a bit of a mess. Also I'm a complete n00b in regards to git and version control in general, so please excuse me if not everything is set up correctly. Namely the formatting is screwed up right now, thanks to github forcing LF line endings. I'll fix this with the next commit.
