ztrumpet that looks great. I love the checkerboard gray on the checkerboard :D

And Potato good luck on your project! Chess in BASIC would be something awesome. As other people have said already, I'd suggest using 5x5 horizontal text sprites. They're pretty versatile.

I know a guy, with only a year of BASIC experience, created chess out of BASIC. I don't think he's done with it, but if you'd like, I could ask him for advice to give you. ;)

This topic got me fooling around with writing a little chess program of my own. Not sure if I'll ever finish it. The AI would probably be horrible as I have only played casually years ago. I'll post it in a topic if I manage to make significant progress with it. :)
