What's wrong with AVG, though? You should state a reason why one should use Avast over AVG so it won't look like software fanboyism, considering all 3 softwares you mentionned are available for free. I never had troubles with AVG on my old computer, except that it used to be so friggin hard to find the free version online. I like Avast, though, since it automatically updated for me and like the free version of AVG it was free.
Also sorry to hear Snake X. X.x

In my experience, AVG always caused my computers to become really sluggish, but Avast! and MS Security Essentials did not, although that may be because I have relatively slow
computers.

Ah ok. Weird. That could maybe be why my old Celeron is slow, although it could just be bloated with plenty of stuff I installed over the time. On that computer, Avast always nearly froze it during virus database updates, though. That process always seemed so CPU-intensive. As a result I usually disabled updates when playing games (it updated about 3 times a day for a while)

hmm.. well I will be getting a fast computer anyways and I dont think I will be affected... hopefully. There was this one antivirus that was a horrid nightmare. The database was great, but the program... very bad. Only functionality it had was a full computer scan, and it would not auto-remove any viruses leaving you to memorize them before my computer would BSOD after finishing the scan. :x

I heard the same...
I wonder if the mobo manufacturers will sell the bad mobos for a discount? I would buy one if I could, I wont ever need more than 1 dvd and 1 hdd.

why would they re-sell the broken ones? The answer to that is no, since msi is re-releasing the motherboard fixed and taking the old ones if you have one and giving you an updated model at no cost. Sorry about that

edit: sorry if i sounded mean :s

I guess I wasn't clear enough.
Some people will never use more than 2 sata ports, so they could sell off the bad motherboards for a (much) lower price, clearly labeled that the 3gbps sata ports will not work, to make a little more money.

Probably not.. I don't think ive seen that happen before really.

edit: Ok. So computer parts shipped FINALLY! :D Also, I think it might be a good thing that I had to RMA my motherboard because that will give me the chance to buy a z68 motherboard... if it compares well enough. I will be definitely be getting the i5-2500k however.

Ok so question. Does anyone know of a 'break-in' time period for a cpu? My dad told me to leave it running for 24 hours min w/o adjusting anything to get the cpu broken in and running smoothly.. anyone know of this or if I should do that or what? ???

EDIT: I got my CPU yesterday as well :D already applied the case badge (slightly crooked :( )

I've heard many things - breakins are not necessary, 48 hours, and even a whole week.It won't do any harm, though.

By break in do you mean not using it for a while after finishing building it?

Also congrats on getting almost every part so far. I hope they all go well together.

Break in is just leaving the computer on for a while to make sure none of the components are defective.
