But then again, it's not like anyone else in my maths class would upgrade to even 1.7 anyway, without me telling them how to.

When you are in graph you need to go to the press the menu button then press 3 then 2 then 1 and finally 2 then you can make the equation x=2

The question was for OS 3.1. :) Also, we (I think) discourage necroposting, which is one like this. (like 6 months apart).

It's easier just to graph in parametric mode, as long as the topic got reopened.

Just set y=t, and x=your function. You do have to set t's range large enough in the window, but that's not difficult.
