Silly Windows x.x (and maybe TI too, for breaking Ndless compatibility with 1.4 x.x)

I found out the problem. I had put the userfiles folder in the 2nd ndless directory not the parent directory.

It installed and works fine. I had time to load 2 games on before school which was lucky since Indonesian was boring

Thanks for the help guys!

Ooooh ok I see x.x. That can happen sometimes, especially when unzipping files "in the directory of the same name as the file" instead of "here". We end up with several directory levels x.x

Glad it works now! And if you get problems with your calc not turning ON, you need to remove a battery then put it back up, then turn it ON again everytime like this. It's an issue with OS 1.1 not being 100% compatible with TI-Nspire calculators manufactured after a certain date in 2008 or later.

OK. I haven't had any trouble turning it on except that I need to hit the on button twice to get it to start.

You can just wait, pressing twice ON is not necessary. Ndless "loads" (not exactly but it is this mind) when you press ON, and it take a few time.

Yes, you have to rename the CAS OS file to "tinspire_1.1.tno"

tip : You have to display the files extensions in Windows. On Vista/Win7, press [Alt] to display the menu bar, then go to option > tools > Display > and unckeck the line "Hide automatically extensions that Windows know" something like that

You are probably suffering from some sort of power management bug.

Mhmm this is strange x.x, normally it shouldn't crash. I think the only solution would be to try reinstalling the OS + Ndless. (which may require formatting of the calc)

Hi ive got a ti nspire cas and ive been searching all round the site and on google for help with ndless installation. im fairly sure ive been doing everything right, I have Computer link 1.3, OS 1.1.9170, java, but its still not working, I have a folder called Ndless and inside I have a folder called userfiles. Inside userfiles ive named the OS "tinspire_1.1.tno. good so far? I go back to the Ndless folder and click on the install ndless file(Ive plugged in the calculator and the computer is recognising it) I click continue when the box comes up and this is what it says from here:
"Setting up USB connectivity...
Connecting to device..."
Then a box comes up saying "Ndless needs to downgrade the OS to version 1.1.
Continue?" I click yes, but Ive already got the "tinspire_1.1.tno" file in userfiles.
"Downloading OS version 1.1..."
"Ndless can't download the file. You may try to copy itmanually to Ndless directory as 'userfiles\tinspire_1.1.tno' and retry the installation.
ERROR (ProtocolException): Server redirected too many  times (20)
Installation aborted."

What am I doing wrong, im new to this and I can't figure out what.
I know there might be other threads about this that could help, but none have so far. ??? ???

You need to get the .tnc OS, because you have a CAS calculator.

Hi and welcome here!

The problem you have is that the copy of OS 1.1 that Ndless tries to download from was deleted. It was located on TI-BANK website (french), which received a cease and desist letter from Texas Instruments (sent by lawyers) to ask them to remove that copyrighted OS from their site. Since then, no calculator site has been redistributing any copy of the OS to avoid any legal issues. Now you need to find a copy of the OS somewhere on Google or Piratebay(or any other p2p) and hope you find something. Certain people migth also have copies hidden somewhere. Sadly we cannot send any, though.

EDIT: oh wait he got the CAS.

Yea i think Ive got the OS its downloaded and call "tinspire_1.1.9170" its the CAS version, I tryed putting it in the userfiles folder called "tinspire_1.1.tno" but Ndless still thinks that its not there. Is there something wrong with the naming or the location of the folder? ( I tryed naming it "tinspire_1.1.tnc" aswell but that doesnt work either )
