Hey guys,

I have recently acquired a teacherguard app from a teacher...of course. I was just wondering how it exactly works. If anyone is up to looking through the code, i can post the app for you.

Is that the thing that allow teachers to lock some calc features to prevent cheating? I never saw it because it didn't existed before I graduated. I hope it won't allow teachers to reset all your programs more easily though

it does, it permanently deletes all apps and programs.

If were talking about the same APP it does:
Fake the memory menu and when you pass over a Clear Option (anyone) it fakes the respective Clear screen.
Then if you go in the prgm and apps menu I think it hides prgm and apps I dont know. But not from the memory menu...

If your teachers use RAM Clear for Singapure there is a APP for recovering some things (only RAM I believe). See in brandonw personal site in the archive.
I can give a link if you ask. And will answer when I get home.

if you are talking about brandon wilson's "Fake" application, then no. What TeacherGuard does is exactly the opposite. All the clear screens are permanent. In the newer OS's, (I think 2.40+) there is a "press-to-test" option. It temporarily disables you apps and programs. However, there is a special teacher only application that when linked to other calcs or through the wireless navigator, it will delete all apps and programs. And Brandon Wilson's PatchPTT only works for the press to test. (Very nicely I might add).

this is really old, but if this is an app the teacher put on there, it probably was to prevent you from cheating, and the only way to do that is to prevent anything that could possibly help you cheat, e.g. memory clear. if you want to get around this, just delete the teacher's app, get the fake-clear app, and before you send it, name it the same as the old app, and make sure it does the same stuff, so as to prevent the teacher from ever knowing that you erased it.
on the other hand, my teacher watches you do all memory clear. thats when you need to do back-up or get the fake clear thing. he doesnt check anything after its cleared, so all you need to do is fake it once and then hell never check it again.

what sucks about all this is that people who work on calculator games but have no computer at home to backup are screwed when it comes to tests, cuz they lose all their work if they don't have any cheat apps. However, cheating is sort of bad in some ways

fortunately, over here in maths you could bring programs in tests, because most tests questions were done in a way that rendered cheating programs useless anyway

well i never have used a cheat app, and dont plan on it, because i could easily back up my calculator without wasting 16.5 kilobytes that the majority of it isnt even used. and even if i did, i wouldn't use it to cheat, just to protect my games and programs, but i wouldnt use them until the testing was over

Yeah.. There is actually no point in cheating. cause if u do, it means ur just adding to ur 'screwed'ness when u get into higher level Math/Science.

True. Actually where I live you could cheat with math programs however you wanted, though. However, the tests were always written in a way that rendered every math programs totally useless, plus most of the time you had to write down your entire solution to the problem. Even if you had the wrong awnser, you still got some points if your solution was the right one or close

My teacher for BC calc lets us use all our programs as long as we write them in class and get it approved. But she never checks our calculators anyways, so its kind of pointless

What I hate the most is when the teacher deletes your entire program list and you had a huge game in the works. This costed some people's their entire projects

. This is why I recommend backing up but sometimes it can be unexpected

if i were them, i would just say like, i won't use this calculator for this test. or borrow an extra one =)
