I once had a custom XP theme installed that looked like Mac OS X. However, my computer OS crashed a few months later and I had other problems  prior that after setting the theme. I believe my copy might have been infected or something. It looked cool, though.

Normally I use awn, but I've spent some time on my fallback session. :P

Bottom panel autohides, launchers do in order: switch wm to compiz, switch wm to metacity (faster whee), restart panel
I'd like to modify the workspace switcher a bit, but it's proving pretty difficult and I guess it isn't terrible as it is? Contrast is really intense when there's windows open tho.

An update of my (Windows) desktop (50%); despite having everyone else in my house steer away from the computer I am using, I still don't have Linux installed due to the sheer amount of files that I might lose.

you wouldn't loose any files if you back 'em up to an external hdd and check if the backup was successful (unlike me >.<)

It might as well take hours to back the important files up, and I don't have a blank external HDD. Can't get my folks to buy one either.

Maybe show them a live-boot and how things work? I imagine one wouldn't stick with the default for long but it can make for a good demonstration :P

Well, I could also dual boot, but I'm not sure that I'd have the skill to do so. There's also a blank CD / USB and an external HDD that I'd need.

Ubuntu makes dual-booting a breeze nowadays. :D I use ArchLinux though because hardcore tweaking FTW. :P

it makes it very easy, you just hit the install button and then hit install next to windows and there, bam, you have a dual boot system
