Due to recent events on another TI forum and life stuff I may have very drastic mood swings and be feeling up and down for a while, and also my online time may be sporadic as well, as I may need some moment to think, as atm I have been feeling the worst i ever felt in the past few years, mentally, I generally am online everyday but if you notice at some point that I am not online for a few days or so that may be why. I promise I,ll be on IRC tomorrow until the end of the weekend, and maybe trillian as well, but I may be slow responding, sry :(sad.gif

It's OK.  Small breaks, and even long breaks if necessary, are fine.   :)smile.gif

Take all the thinking time you need Kevin, you will be all the more better for it. I hope you can figure things out.

Yeah, take a winter/fall vacation. Reflect on life and experience, be glad you're not dead/Iraqi/whatever.
One of these days I'll get a sig I'm really proud of.

With the recent events in #omnimaga IRC channel, all the fights and immaturity in there I dunno if I feel like contributing anymore. People do stuff that cause other to leaves, all the time and it make me very sad, because often it is out of my control, and i don't want them to leave. Also the forums has been slowly getting more inactive lately, especially project wise, no one besides netham45 applied for staff yet, there doesn't seems to be much interest anymore. I understand tho if its because of busy school period, which i dunno since USA school is different than canada, but the fights/pointless arguments and ppl leaving make me very depressed and sad, and its not good for me. As some know I overeact to that stuff, and this is what happened again this evening (which i apologise for though) I dunno if I'll come back, most of the times I come back, so I'll say I need to take another break. however i hope the ppl understand tho, i wish this could all end, cuz now the channel is getting worse than #tcpa or #calcgames . I have enough of this, especially if I also have to deal with similar and prbly worse stuff IRL. I just wish ppl would all get along and be nice with each others. I meant Omnimaga to be a nice community, and this include the channel. But now only the forum is nice and its the least active of both. Maybe the time I'll be not coming back or dissapear from real world as well the people involved will realise what they did, and think twice before doing it again?

I'm sorry to see this happen again.  I wasn't in the channel at the time so I don't know what happened, but I wish that it hadn't just the same.  xlibman, I certainly don't want to see you leave the community, but I will also respect any decision that you make.  If this is what is creating a lot of tension in your life than maybe you would be better off without it, as much as it hurts for me to tell you that and I'm sure it hurts to hear that.  Either way, you'll always be the founder of Omnimaga and one of the best Basic programmers ever.

Enough. I left the channel on my own accord, and not because I was attacked or offended by anyone; rather, I was removing the possibility of a conflict due to opposing views by physically taking myself out of the equation. I appreciate your trying to bring me back into the channel afterward, but spamming was not the solution. If you were concerned about my being upset, then please note that there really wasn't any evidence to suggest that I was.

I say that you are obligated to take the time to cool off and wait for things to settle down whenever you should require it, but it really helps to make sure that the problem is worth getting stressed about in the first place. No, there wasn't any dilemma in the channel tonight, aside from the few minutes when everyone was banned. The whole thing was passed before it even began, so it only makes sense to carry on as usual.

If someone is causing any trouble for me, then I'll bring him straight to you, okay? Other than that, you can be sure that I'll remain in #omnimaga as long as I'm still connected to the Internet; the only other way I'm leaving is through the administrator's consent. Hold me to that, or you'll have to think of a worse punishment than that infamous !kb you got going there.

See you in #omnimaga.

hmm (as discussed on AIM) that was solved alerady after it happened. I am morre upset about the other fights that keep happening since sunday evening in the chan. Most of the time it's stupid debates about stupid things, and the other times hate toward other members were caused by non stop spam in the channel. I just wish people could get along. As for the spam thing i never minded it that much, when someone says stupid stuff or spam, it isnt the big problem, but what I dont like is when it doesn't stop or when people join the bandwaggon. The thing I noticed in #omnimaga that doesn't happen elsewhere is that when this occurs there is no way to stop it, besides taking extreme measures, which I really hate to take, because this make people mad, and some thinks they are hated afterward. This is not true though, I do not hate anyone in the channel in any way, and I don't think the other admins +av/& does either, we are just trying to put an end to excessive behaviour, which unfortunately tend to happen all at once the same day for everyone, like monday evening.

Anyway i hope people understand what I mean, this is my channel anyway, and the only reason I built in was the same reason than Omnimaga forums and programming team, and I am sad to see the IRC channel go the opposite all the time. Some people are also tired of all the drama in this channel, including a great regular we lost because of all this this summer and we risked losing lot of other people as well. There are days when its really nice in here, and I wish it would become again like that, like on the forums.

It hardly suprises me that there are more fights now than ever. It's not the range of people, or the topics we talk about. It is the tension that is hanging over the channel 24/7 that comes from people's fears. They watch every word they say for the most part because of what the rules say. When you limit what people can say and do, it builds tension that ends up in people snapping. In my opinion less rules not more will improve the situation. It's not any one person or thing, the human [ or dragon or fox or goose or any other kin that visits our fine channel ] reaction to these limits is not a deserible reaction at all. And I am sure anyone here can agree with me about this. Honestally I am being more lax in my moderating of the channel because it allows for a bit more freedom and less people have gotten into fights because of it. It just seems that when we tell them what they can't do then the tension builds to a point where a full fledged fight breaks out. And in reality some people leave because of the rules places on the channel, as opposed to the content of the channel itself, I hardly see anyone leave #tcpa even though it seems to share a good bit of the content with our fine #omnimaga. Honestally I don't know what can solve our problem in the channel or if it can be solved at all. The reputation of a channel, once tarnished, is hard to clean for all time. It can be done, we just need to activly change how we moderate things and control the users, if they even need control at all. Also, I may need to point out, IRC is a constant medium and is always updated live with responses... forums are not, thus forums have the chance to be nicer...
