A moment of silence for the tragic loss of CT Resurrection...

Wow. Just wow.

For those who aren't sure what that is, it's essentially a port of one of the most complex songs from Chrono Trigger (A SNES game) to NES hardware. The amazing part is, I don't think I can tell the difference without listening to the two at the same time.

That can run on a NES?? O.O (although I did see what Journey to Silius could do in terms of music and was quite impressed already)

By the way, for those who hate trackers or softwares like Finale and prefer FL Studio/Music 2000 interfaces with grid-based note pasting for loops, but still want to make 8 bit music, there is Pocket Music for the Game Boy Color, which can do a quite decent job. It's made by the same company that made Music 2000/MTV Music Generator series and works pretty similarly.

There is also a GBA version, but it uses real samples rather than chiptunes-like sounds, and they are so compressed that they totally sound horrible (especially kickdrums). Even 11 KHz samples in Music 2000 sounds better M2000 offers 11, 22 and 44)

Of course I recommend that you get the games legally, though. :P (I actually never could find the GBC version on Ebay, tho)

@DJ, yes, that can run on hardware. Also, apparently some people use FL studios to do 8bit style music. There are some on the playlist that i posted earlier that are done in FL studio. :)

Yeah I saw people use FL for SNES style music as well. I personally never figured out how to use any non-MTVMG software with soundfonts on the piano roll instead of being limited to MIDI and VST plugins. I found one plugin once but I couldn't get any sound from it.

One SNES-like FL songs I like:

THe second brings a lot of souvenirs... And the first is more closer to the original GBC game music than the DS's. Calm...
