some ppl obviously have lot of money to waste. I am wondering how much money that domain name costed

The fact that a domain name costs money is proof of the crapiness of capitalism. They should be an intelectualy property just like a copy right, not a lease on web directing...and they should be made available on a first come basis.

Well that would be cool and all, but then greedy people would collect all of them

(runs program to collect all the domain names!), but really I would love it to be first come first serve.

I think so, in case of tr1p1ea it would be .au , in case of spellshaper it would be .de and in case of me it would be either .qc.ca or .ca

if I was to get a domain I would get .org, because the last subdomains I used ended in .org, that way it wouldnt confuse people too much
