New portal installed
« on: January 02, 2009, 03:22:07 am »
At last, there is finally a SMF Portal mod compatible with our download system and with better latest topics listing. Despite some missing features that were avaliable in the previous portal, such as top posters and latest member, it should make it easier for members to know if there were new files uploaded. This portal system is also being made by the same authors than the actual download system.

This portal also features custom pages, something we had on the temporary Omnimaga board after the New Year 2008 shutdown, meaning that after I figure the system out, the board rules will be moved there and the old awards and contest results will be posted as non-forum-post pages, like on the very first Omnimaga website we had until May 2005. This may also make the Java chat applet being integrated in the website easier and no longer being external.

ha, I just installed this same system on another forum too. It kind of bugged me, because it adds 'Powered by EzPortal' to the bottom of each page, regardless if the portal is touching it or not.

Oh it did that with the other portal system too (Simple Portal). Just that the copyright was below the SMF one (if you check on TIMGUL you can see what I mean: http://www.mtv-music-generator.com/)

It must have been added in the updates. It looks to be similar to maxcoderz old shop system. You get a small amount of coins when you post and they can be spent on small pixel art used to personalize your post. I think they usually went on the bottom of the sig, though it's been a while so I'm not certain.

it seems they are located under post count. too bad there's only two items to buy. updates FTW!

plus, we need a gambling forum, where posting doesnt net you points or posts in postcount ;P

That's what the Randomness forum is for.  Nothing there counts towards your post count.

yeah, but randomness currently nets you coins, which kind of ruins the point.

Yeah I took down the shop. It's filled with bugs, such as this one, so I'm gonna wait until someone ever makes a decent shop system for SMF.

The Netham burger, which did nothing, and the Rickroller, with which you could rickroll yourself.
