An NES Emulator (NESpire) already exists for the Nspire! :)

Yeah, but it would be awesome to have color and sound!!!   :w00t:

Sound? Where's the headphone jack?
One would make an adapter from the usb-out to a standard female trs jack. :)

Hmm, that's going to be pretty tough, but the Prizm has a headphone jack. I think I'll get started on a music player.  ;D

List of stuff I need to do before September:
1. Finish the Emulator of the Casio Prizm (in active development)
2. Finish the the SH3 asm IDE/assembler/linker program (in active development)
3. Create a partial Java virtual machine  for the Prizm (not started)
4. Create Axe for the Prizm with an Axe legacy mode (in planning phase)
5. Develop a large set of C and asm libraries for the Prizm (some progress)
6. Create an emulator of the 83+ for the Prizm (not started)
7. Create a well polished game that showcases the ability of the Casio Prizm (not started)

Comparing with my time zone (Eastern), Texas is one hour later (so for me, this will be at 1:00_
* apcalc thinks of a way he can get on a computer at 1:00...
I think this is Central Time Zone

Funnily enough, they made it public at midnight-ish instead of noon. :P

That would be nice, I wonder what kind of chiptunes could the Prizm allow, since it has more Flash memory than the 84+ and faster processor...

According to some TI staff (T3 teacher from Univers-TI-Nspire who has "worked" on the 3.0 software), the new 3.0 OS will be installable on old TI-Nspire Clickpad/TouchPad, but we'll have to use documents which are "not too big".

As TI had never mentionned a free space problem with the 2.1 OS (although there is a problem: just look at the chart...) I'm very frightened this time...

My full analysis in the TI-Bank news:
http://ti.bank.free.fr/index.php?mod=news&ac=commentaires&id=990

Feel free to translate some parts and/or reuse some images if you'd like to make a news about this.

Let's try to guess what the remainging free space (with no user documents in memory) will be.
4Mb on the basic TI-Nspire, and 6Mb on the CAS TI-Nspire ? We wouldn't be able to play nDoom any more!
They've finally found out how to prevent students from using Ndless and playing games: after the "no programming", comes the "no memory"! :P

Ok this is scary. O.O

500 KB free space maybe? ???

Also when we bought a TI-Nspire, didn't they advertise 16 MB free space on the package? If they still do so now, then it would kinda be like false advertising after installing OS 3.0, right?

The next TI calculator will have 3 KB user RAM and 2 KB user Flash, after TI learns that we don't want to replace our RAM/ROM chips.

16Mb is ok with the CAS OS 2.0.0.
But the french package is mentionning 20Mb, which is false advertising and it's been mentionned in my news too.

The oldest OS you can install (according to TI) is the 2.0.0.
Look at the chart: 16Mb.
You can get allmost 20Mb with OS 2.0.0, only by using the TNOC tool.

This sucks they do that. Also now it seems the Prizm has an advantage over the Nspire: free flash memory. On my TI-Nspire OS 2.0.1, after a fresh re-install and reset, I got less than 16 MB free. Of course, it might be better with TNOC, but it just shows how the 16 MB advertised on my TI-Nspire package is no longer true anymore.

They claim there will be 64 MB of RAM and 100 MB of archive.

that sounds reasonable. and theres no way the os would even take up close to half of that. i dont think as long as ti hasnt completely encrypted and almost made it impossible to hack, that programmes should have plenty of wiggle room if not more so than the current nspires.

We're also assuming that it's actually a 128MB flash chip, with 100MB available for user space.
