a part of the ticalc.org archive
One would think that for a CD to be distributed with the calculators that ticalc would stick with proven, possibly even featured, programs rather than picking at random :/

Oh well, 20/20 hindsight I guess :P

The CD actually included the entire ticalc.org archives. Back then, though, archives were not screened as carefully and I think there was no file report form. Back in the days, though, about sometimes there were about 30-100 files in a day. The pending queue even reached 1370+ files once.
Darn that is cool. I remember that ticalc.org used to be affiliated with TI, but sadly were taken off their website because their archives contained innapropriate material (the Drug Wars game and ASCII porn)

Not exactly - let's be a little more accurate.

Because TI calculators were sold with a ticalc.org CD.
That CD was containing a part of the ticalc.org archive, and there was such stuff in that part.
Yeah actually that's what I meant but forgot to mention the CD part. My bad. >.<

Thanks.
And sorry, I didn't know the entire ticalc.org archive could fit on only one CD at that time.

Actually now that I remember, PC programs might have not been included, or some directories might have been missing. I'm not sure anymore, but all programs were added. Of course the lack of screenshots on the CD could have helped too, since some file screenshots were like 400 KB or more.

The entire archives at ticalc.. I estimate at no more than 10gb, and that's giving it lots of headroom.
ALL of Omni would fit on a flash drive lol
Keep trying.

FYI the Omnimaga website is at least 12 GB large. Would still fit on a flash drive. (But not any of mine. Speaking of which I need to get myself a 16 GB drive sometime...)

And congrats TI-Planet!

I don't exactly remember, but I think it was 96 MB, 9.6 GB or 96 GB large or something as of 2012, and that's because today people use 800 KB large PDF readmes or include animated GIFs in their ZIP files. Back in 2001, animated screenshot utilities were incredibly rare and not everyone used large readmes, so I'm fairly sure that it was much smaller. In 2001 I think they had 20000 files and a calc download is usually only 5-30 KB large. Given the antiquated calculator tools of the time, it's entirely possible that ticalc archives were less than 700 MB large at the time.

As for Omni I don't think it's 12 GB anymore. That was back when TIMGUL (which was 9 GB large) was hosted here. Of course back in July 2011 the site was around 3 GB large so it probably increased since then, but I would be surprised if it grew to 12 GB considering the activity decrease that occured since then. The reason why it's still quite large, though is because of all the large screenshots attached to posts, most music downloads being hosted on the server and at one point attachments and downloads could be up to 8 MB large, so everyone included their oversized GIFs in their zip files.
