Need Help! Battery for PLT-SSH1
« on: November 24, 2012, 11:45:44 pm »
After the nspire color, i found another PLT-SHH1 prototype on taobao!
And I noticed that all that prototypes are from 佛山 ,Foshan  Guangdong.
Maybe there is a recycle center?
http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.10.1.bDIuar&id=20629844499
However, the model doesn't include the li-ion battery. Can I DIY the battery by myself?

Hmm, that's quite an amazingly rare prototype (which probably isn't spread to more than a dozens units worldwide...)
If you have the money to buy yourself one, more people like collectors would want to buy it from you if you want (I'm thinking Critor right now... But I can also buy it myself by paying you on Paypal right now, if you want ? - something like 450 yuan is good for you ?))

About the battery, we could contact Datamath which may have more info, or I can try some contacts at TI directly.
If that doesnt work, we can still "make" ourselves one, since we kind of know the specs :

Also, could you ask the vendor for more info on what else he's got etc. ?

Edit2 : Also he sells some early prototype (DVT cas+) for quite cheap (< 30 euros I believe) :

That's quite a big screen. Is this an nspire prototype or z80/68k?
P.S. Dutch label on the battery :D

After the nspire color, i found another PLT-SHH1 prototype on taobao!

Didn't you buy the Nspire Color?
It seems to be still on sale:
http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=2013.1.0.123.9TPaMj&scm=1007.77.0.0&id=16278461357&ad_id=&am_id=&cm_id=&pm_id=

And I noticed that all that prototypes are from 佛山 ,Foshan  Guangdong.
Maybe there is a recycle center?

A center which doesn't recycle then...
TI won't be happy with this.

Anyway, let's get everything interesting/useful for our community and share between us.

I can take care of all Nspire-like prototypes and then either keep them or send them back.
I probably can't do much without help on the PLT-SSH1.

What seems interesting (as they're not all are prototypes):

- TI-Nspire CAS+ DVT (quantity: 100?!!!)
http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=2013.1.0.123.NNChB0&scm=1007.77.0.0&id=20629380307&ad_id=&am_id=&cm_id=&pm_id=

- TI-Nspire Color (quantity: 100?!!!)
http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=2013.1.0.123.9TPaMj&scm=1007.77.0.0&id=16278461357&ad_id=&am_id=&cm_id=&pm_id=

- TI-PLT SSH1 (quantity: 100?!!!)
http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=2013.1.0.102.8eWNzW&scm=1007.77.0.0&id=20629844499&ad_id=&am_id=&cm_id=&pm_id=

A huge quantity of 'exactly' 100 each time, especially for rare prototypes, seems strange...

Let's see if we really get the TI-Nspire Color prototype in some days.

For Nspire CAS+ DVT/Color prototypes, I think the best way, if the vendor speaks english of if someone here speaks chinese, would be to ask the vendor for:
- the serial numbers on the back
- together with the OS/Boot1/Boot2 version (about screen)

I can then list you what would be interesting or not according to which versions have allready been dumped/shared or not.

But if he really has more than 100 of each, he probably won't do it... :(

Nope, the quantity, as for the PLT, is only one, the seller said.
I will ask for more details next week, also I will write something about the calculator using in PRChina. (I don't have much time, since I am a junior high school student. )
I have already bought the NSpire Color, but not the PLT. I think maybe I can cut the price to... 300 yuan? After all, for the seller, that is recycled electrical litter only.

Ah, ok :)

So it seems Adriweb absolutely wants that PLT.

Nothern_snow, does the seller speak english ?

Could you ask for the TI-Nspire CAS+ DVT serial number and OS/Boot1/Boot2 versions?
http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.1.4-8070068388.23.eq2k0K&id=20629380307
Keys to be pressed to trigger the 'about' screen once the OS is running are the key with the tool (top-right), left, enter.

Could you also ask for the TI-XXXXXXXXXXX Nspire CAS serial number and OS/Boot1/Boot2 versions?
http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.1.4-8070068388.11.eq2k0K&id=16274614104

Note that it is possible that other Nspire/z80/68k calculators on sale are prototypes - but we'll need more informations/photos to be sure.

Well he said he has about 30 nspire cas+ (!?) But since he doesn't know much about calculators, maybe he confused the type. And he doesn't know English...

Thanks for your reply :)

The CAS+ DVT is the grey one which is missing a model name. No "CAS+" is printed on it.

How many?

He doesn't know English completely. Now I am teaching him.how to open the about screen  and.read the Version number step by step...
And he said he is not sure.about the quantity.
BAD NEWS: The seller gave up opening the about screen because of the difficult steps... Maybe I should ask him some time later.

GOOD NEWS: I finally got one of.the serial number: PV1-DVT1-000367

Sorry, the keys above were incorrect.

Once the calculator has booted he has to press successively:
- 2 times the 'tool' key (last key in the top-right corner)
- the right arrow key
- '3' key

GOOD NEWS: I finally got one of.the serial number: PV1-DVT1-000367

Mine was P1-DVT1-000150.

So they are both CAS+ DVT1 prototypes.
If the OS is a different version from mine, I'll be interested :)

Wow... 你的英语说得很好! And some people in the U.S. are saying that China doesn't teach English well... :P /random

Anyway, after getting the item, it should be relatively easy to ship it over. The only thing is that shipping will likely take weeks, and it may be subject to customs checking (海关检查), so try to pack it in a way that doesn't make it seem suspicious!
