TI Z80 / CubeCalc
« on: September 25, 2013, 05:34:01 pm »
I have a very engaging, involved series of big and difficult to answer questions aimed at programming and cubing veterans, or anybody else who feels qualified to help out. (This may turn into an in-depth discussion holding multiple streams of conversation at once, beware! If you tl;dr often, this isn't the place for you.)

What would it take to write a Rubik's cube solving application/program for the Ti-83-84 series? I'm betting that the best platform to write it for is the Ti-84+CSE, mostly becuase that's what everybody is interested in right now and it has the newest operating system and a color screen in case there is a graphical component to this program.

Also, I'd like to challenge Omnimaga with the task of writing a program that can solve any cube state with an optimal solution path withing the course of a reasonable amount of time. It should probably take no longer than 4 hours to solve any one state.
I want to hear your thoughts on it, like what a cube-state culd look like in memory, algorithms or sequences stored as data, or how to maybe come up with a tiny, compressed structure for representing any cube state with a maximum of, say, 8 bytes. Who's up for it?

Yeah. No words. Might have words to explain my abscence, later, but for the time being, just know that even though I've been active, I haven't really been "around" like I could've been. hai guyz

Site Feedback and Questions / Some Site Feedback
« on: May 31, 2013, 03:25:08 pm »
Can I suggest something that might make using this website a little bit easier?
DJ_O refered me to some faster, less bloated versions of this website. This website is faster than TI-Planet or Facebook, don't get me wrong, but I think it might be nice to have those sites listed somewhere on the home page as an alternative to this site, in case you own a slow computer (or have filters).
Just figured I'd say: I'm back. No IRC, and I still have one filter on the computer, which won't allow me to use search engines. As time passes, I can look up stuff using Google. Lately, I've been hacking video games for fun (that, and 7 hours of daily piano. Two Chopin Etudes a month, minimum, epic7.) :) Oh, my old one competely exploded (almost literally) after years of use and recently, long hours of full CPU. So I bought a Dell Optiplex, splitting the cost with dad. I lost my calculator directory so I'm a little bit upset about it.

Also, how come TI's servers seem to send me only like 1k of their huge linking applications? I haven't been able to send anything to my calculator because I can't install them! I hate TiLP, too, so... The files from TI won't download.

Good to be back :)

Introduce Yourself! / You've been great, folks!
« on: May 01, 2013, 04:55:30 pm »
Thought I'd let Omnimaga know (refer anybody who asks where I am to this post, even if I AM going to stay. I'll probably become more active as time goes on and my Dad isn't so strict. Recent happenings have this computer on thin ice, though.):
I've been limited to almost nothing on the computer due to parental restrictions. Not complaining, just figured I'd let you know I can't download, upload, install, uninstall, or pretty much do anything with this computer. So, any projects I had lingering left incomplete should be deemed "abandoned" and I'm pretty much not going to be here often. It's not fun if I can't just be around you guys all day everyday... I have no OmnomIRC access. Or any chat access of any kind. I am forced to IE7, with like 6 applications constantly monitoring it. So IRC would be super slow anyway.

I may finish the DJ_O songs, but I'll be one of those ghosts who only post when they have a new project. Expect no more than like 1 post per day, unless I get used to IE7 (Right. Because that'll happen.)
To put it into perspective for you guys, it took me 5 minutes to log into facebook. With MFF, 5 seconds was deemed unworthy and would force me to put it to death. When I DID get there, I had to close at least 10 windows warning me of inapproprtiate content. My Dad's own blog (He is a blogger, writing about controversial topics in Christiandom! Great guy! Really christian! Super strict!) isn't even allowed because it has the word... Er... Hrmm.. I wanna be able to read this topic again...
H E DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS.
...Omnimaga has like 6 inapopropiate content stuff, and I'm lucky I can come at all. It's a very H4X0RZ oriented site and... While that's fun, my Dad wants this computer on lockdown and isn't taking any chances. Just letting me use it is a chance enough to him, so I'm getting privileges here. But, if you need more examples... I can tell he is now constantly monitoring me, though. A lot of my BLAHhackingBLAH stuff (this is to keep it from detecting the site and kicking me off and restricting access.) has been taken away, especially hex editing stuff. But my mouse is flickering (sure sign of sending it's coordinates every few seconds) and GIFs take like 6 times as long to load, and play back extremely slowly once and then are normal, which suggests all GIFs are monitored as well. There is a lot of other stuff... I can't visit a majority of the stuff on Omnimaga, though. Keep me in mind when you write news, next time, DJ_O. I don't wanna stay outta the loop *voice gets pretty shaky*
I just discovered that I can't even use search engines... Somebody link to the page with FAQ's on gamefaqs for RCT Deluxe.. Roller Coaster Tycoon...
I won't quit on GeNspire, either. But somebody should seriously complete it.
Plus, I'll still give my trollish feedback. I feel like I've been with Omnimaga forever...

I am not going to be gone forever, I promise.
But... I'll not be quite as free to respond when somebody asks me to "sing us a sog, pianoman... sing us a song tonight" *breaks down in tears*
I'll be Bach, my Franz. Liszt yourself here if you are going to Greig (grieve) my abscence."
Goodbye Omnimaga. (ish) :'(

Miscellaneous / The Piano Deity of Omnimaga?
« on: April 21, 2013, 08:52:54 pm »
Please, vote for the best pianist! Post your videos here, in this topic, and they will be included in the header.
Dapianokid (Ian Moore): The resident Rachmaninoff rocker.

pimathbrainiac: Our resident Jazz musician!
[ Invalid YouTube link ]
epic7: The masterful Chopin fan!

Willrandship (William Shapley): Last but not least, a late entrant but truly remarkable pianist!

Before you vote, GO THROUGH THE TOPIC because they HAVE other videos they would like you to see!
Dapianokid's video is the only one he submitted. This is to avoid any... Unfair advantage on his part.
Any reference to the Turkish March is null.

EDIT: RECOUNT guyz. :P
Also, please don't vote for yourselves, guys.

TI-Nspire / GeNspire
« on: April 14, 2013, 02:47:25 pm »
I have recently begun a port of the Gens II Genesis emulator to the Nspire, to be run natively as though it were another emulator (e.g. gpSP-Nspire, gbc4Nspire, NESpire, calcemu, MinivMac) to play your favorite (Sonic The Hedgehog) games on your Nspire. :) I will begin with a minimal Genesis, then move on to include the Mega Drive and CD. I'll include many features in the future, but for now I'm sticking to minimalist code.

Discussion environment initiated. Questions, suggestions, help, or ideas are invited. When I get a promising result, I'll post it in this topic header. :)

Unfortunately, recent developments require me to focus a significantly larger amount of my energy and time towards the piano and my academic studies, probably tripling of the amount of time I spend on work, and making it impossible for me to learn the C to do this properly.

I have gone through the source of what I posted down there, and the common directory would be 100% Nspire compatible! :D So, if anybody with free time and a little bit of C experience wants to actually just write a main loop and a GUI with the source already there, they could finish this project. I really got no work done, except for a test which had some promising yet undesired results.

Site Feedback and Questions / I believe IRC is down?

I'm unable to connect to OmnomIRC. This doesn't look like a problem on my end, so has anybody else experienced a problem?

Other Calculators / Is this what TI plans for the future?
« on: April 05, 2013, 10:11:13 pm »
So I got my new calculator today and read the back of the packaging when I noticed a very disconcerting tidbit of information provided by TI.
This calculator was manufactured a week ago at most, and the packaging is updated to have the CSE displayed as a model for comparison between calcs.

Somebody tell me why the TI-84+SE is listed as only having 480 Kb ROM?

Image is attached to post, if this becomes big, moderator can just edit the post to include the image.

TI-BASIC / Palindrome Finder?
« on: April 03, 2013, 01:20:30 pm »
I've written and rewritten a palindrome finder in TI BASIC. I found one online, but it isn't very good. I don't know how to manipulate lists well enough that I can input a number larger than 14 digits and it be checked properly... Plus it is very slow.
Writing one in ASM seems impossible to me.
Axe doesn't support big integers..
So I'm asking everybody to rewrite the only palindrome finder online at Ticalc to make the best one they can find, or write their own.
This is more of a challenge than anything :P
Altho it would be really helpful, as I am trying to learn about math using programming

Other Calculators / Dapianokid selling a TI-84 Plus Silver Edition
« on: April 02, 2013, 04:37:59 pm »
Sorry!
This offer has been closed due to refinancing situations which have provided me with the money I need without selling my precious calculator!

Original post:
Wanna buy a TI84+SE with 128k RAM from me for $120?

You came to the right place! My price is fair, considering the special nature of the device you are buying.

The device is always clean as a whistle, and has experienced very little wear down on the keys. The case is a bit worn (it's an old calculator suffering from daily use) and the USB port isn't as snug as brand new models. However, if anybody takes this offer, both of those little defects will be attended to. :) Comes with 4 fresh batteries and a set of default apps for developers, including your choice of the best shells out there, zStart, Axe, Calcsys, and Mimas.

LCD screen has nary a scratch on it, and all I need to make it look brand new is a Qtip. The whole outside casing was once defaced by the careless pencil smudges of another math enthusiast (Yes, this calculator has been owned before me.) but that has been cleaned. The faceplate has only been removed once since the factory release.

I have never unscrewed the calculator at all, and the previous owner knew nothing about gaming on calculators so he obviously didn't either. It is NOT factory sealed inside it's packaging, but it has not been "tampered" with.

BEST PART OF DEAL!

The calculator comes with an unreleased version of MSD8x and USB8x and a version of MSD8x (renamed MSD8y) that can read .txt files from the calculator off a USB stick! That's right, that 30 dollar adapter nobody can find online? This sale comes with one for free. Transfer 1 page applications on the go, as well as any other OS variable. PERFECT for trips!

To purchase, please PM me with your address and any shipping information you would need to order on eBay (this offer is hosted personally.) and I will respond with information on when you can expect your TI 84+ SE :D

$120  + Shipping + Handling (+ Tax).

Other Calc-Related Projects and Ideas / Nspire Linux?
« on: April 01, 2013, 05:12:59 pm »
I hope that my newbishness is at least enough to revive old projects that I ask about :)
I'm posting this topic both at Cemetech and Omnimaga, because there are members of either site that don't go to the other very often.

I've been looking at Linux for the Nspire, and I am wondering about taking the project further. Specifically, I have a couple questions.

Why can't an external storage device be used as the entire filesystem, including the boot code, like it was done on the Wii?

What would it take to implement USB storage so one could theoretically install more drivers and upgrade to have Linux as a completely usable OS rather than a "thought"?

General Calculator Help / Dapianokid's TIOS discussion
« on: March 30, 2013, 02:03:42 pm »
I'm having major OS glitches and Axe problems. This 9isn't an error report as much as it is me somehow accidentally corrupting my OS. It doesn't usually have problems, but lately, every time I close an app, it defragments. So...I'm going to wipe the flash chip, then I'm going to download an OS to my Ti84+SE.
Your mission, Omnimaga: (dramatic music cue)

Tell Dapi what the best 84+ OS is. Which do you prefer, and why?

General Calculator Help / I'm emulating an Nspire.
« on: March 25, 2013, 02:03:35 pm »
If this is illegal, delete it immediately as I do not support pirating.

I found this site. What should I get from it to emulate a Ti Nspire CX CAS OS 3.1 (newest Ndless supported OS) that I will put Ndless on? I'm just emulating it to get a feel for it before I get it.
Also, a brief HOW-TO on emulating it when i get my files in order!

Introduce Yourself! / Hello, from Earth!

;D Dapianokid signing on to Omnimaga! I'm a pianist, as my name suggests, and not an amateur, either! Calculators are my alternate hobby, and many people here know me from Cemetech. I like the younger peer group, here, though. :D

Hey, admins! Wanna help me with my username? It obviously has a problem: I've somehow switched up my username and email! OH NOES!
