Miscellaneous / "Lenovo analyst: Linux on netbooks is doomed"
« on: June 13, 2014, 09:02:09 pm »
Read this:

Here are a few excerpts:

"You have to know how to decompile codes and upload data, stuff that the average person, well, they just want a computer."
"Linus needs to get to the point where if you want to plug something in, Linux loads the driver and it just works."
"If I need to go to a website and download another piece of code or if I need to reconfigure it for internet, it’s just too hard."
And, before the article was corrected, it said
"From a vendor perspective, Linux is very hard to support because there are so many different versions out there: do we have Eudora, do we have SUSE, do we have Turbo Max?"

General Calculator Help / TI-Nspire CX CAS not charging
« on: January 19, 2014, 09:48:17 pm »
I left my Nspire in the car in freezing weather (I know, not a good idea) and now I found that it doesn't charge (although the calc works fine). I know it's not a battery problem because I can charge the same battery in my other calc.
So how should I try to troubleshoot this problem?

Edit: it started working yesterday, i'll post if there's any more problems.

I just read about the new open hardware engineering board Improv. From the website, it appears to be completely open hardware, and it comes preinstalled with a GNU/Linux distro called Mer.
The specs are here. Looks really cool.

Hi, I'm Legimet.
I can program in C and C++, and I'm porting a game written in C to the TI-Nspire using Ndless and nSDL.
Also, I'm going to do 68k programming with GCC4TI.
