Welcome! Since you already have some programming experience (C and TI BASIC) transitioning to AXE should be easier for you. Glad to <s>have some fresh meat, and another victim to Rickroll >:D </s>  see more new faces around here! I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay. =D

Axe / Re: Tilemapping efficiently

Well no matter what your storage is, you can then decompress it into a matrix buffer so that you are working with simple bytes and not this weird byte thingies.  PortalX uses RLE where up to 16 tiles can be stored in a single byte, and i find that it offers much more compression that tile squeezing.  However its not random access so it has to be decompressed at the start of each level, and stored in byte form.
I'm curious as to how you could fit 16 tiles in one byte, that sounds like some ridonkulous compression magic. Also, what size tiles are you using?

Ah, ok. I wondered what that box was for, I thought it seemed out of place. And no, I don't have a TI83 font installed. I just kind of assumed the program would support those characters or if it needed an extra font that it would have it included. (I don't really program BASIC on PC).
I'll see if I can test it a bit more later. :)

I'm sorry to hear that, and I hope you change your mind Omni. :( Even if you can't understand everything, I believe you can still create some fantastic programs. Either way, I respect your decision.

Yes, you can! I was actually dual booting Windows XP 32 bit and the Windows 7 64 bit beta until I got the full version of Windows 7. =)

I might try to optimize them down some other time. But right now I am busy with 8LU3 7007h. I say it like that because if I do get this project up and running I do not want people to be able to go online, search on google, and see that t3xting from calculators is real. I know that brandonW has already done stuff like this but his is just calc to calc. For instance, I have already paired my phone and my calc.

Oh and controls for geometry wars. Use squares of buttons as control sticks. So the square consisting of 2nd, Mode, Del, Stat, Prgm, Apps, Math, and Alpha is used for movement. And the numbers excluding 5 are used for shooting. Enter is bomb, Y= is pause, Zoom is save and Quit, and Graph is a little Mirage exploit I found that is save and quit to HomeScreen.

I will hopefully put this on TiCalc soon, the only glitch I see currently is that the shield guys block the wrong sides.
This looks really nice! I'll have to check it out. Also, if you get the blue tooth stuff up and running, that'd be cool to integrate blue tooth transfer into say..something like TILP. Wireless file transfer from PC to calc or calc to PC? Yes Plox! It'd be cool as hell for calc to calc linking too! Don't be afraid to post progress on stuff here! =)

That means it's even more than I thought. I don't have any megamixes or such that are over an hour long. O_o I wonder how many hours of music that adds up to?

Is saving implemented yet? I created a new file and typed in my code. When I try to save it brings up a window to save, but when I click save it gives me this error message:
Code: [Select]
Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click
Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If
you click Quit, the application will close immediatley.

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Hitting continue allows the program to continue executing, but does not save the file. I assume there is no syntax checking or a table of tokens yet either, as I couldn't trigger any syntax highlighting nor could i find a token table.

*edit* Just tested saving with someone else's existing file. I opened the file and saved it under a different name and it worked fine. It doesn't seem to like the file I hand typed. I guess it doesn't convert my hand typed ASCII to tokens (yet)?

*edit 2* Oh and as Omni said, some characters appeared as ü or Á or other odd things. I saw this when I opened an actual 8xp file and then re-saved it.

Alright, that's great then! =) Ah, why wait...
* Art_of_camelot goes of to try the beta.

Looks nice! This map looks dynamic enough that it could be used in an RPG just as easily. =)
