Exactly. Just trying to get a good time to discuss these things with the others.

If the Google ads are discrete, less people will click on them and you will get less money. Besides DJ_O said that you don't earn much with that.
Paypal donation probably will come, but if we get a cheaper hosting plan its even better. ;)

You get a few cents per click, all we have to do is click :P

I agree with a cheaper hosting plan too, and I don't mind having to archive older parts of the forum (threads really old)
Hmm, well maybe. No decisions are going to be made yet. I still have to talk to the rest of the admins.

I'm willing to pay the entire bill, come October.
O.O
That would really be nice, but Eeems was saying something about a cheaper hosting plan, so we should see still a little.
It's the hosting plan my dad uses. I'm not sure how fast it would be though
http://www.startlogic.com/ <- hosting
http://doxa-canada.com/ <- My dad's site for speed comparison etc
It is an option if we really need to, and I know the customer support is good, and it's been around for years now with not much problems other then a little downtime while they were doing upgrades.
We don't have to switch though or anything but it is a possibility if we really are too tight on cash.

I'll not be able to for at least 40 minutes, but when I get home I will. Unless someone else does.

There was an attempt at a joint channel, and it is still there, but not very active, although many people idle in it. #TI
There have been a few attempts of discussions between the communities by the leadership, but due to scheduling they haven't worked too well yet. But there definatly has been a little progress.
I'm not sure what will happen with OmnomIRC yet, but I will make a decision soon when I get to talk to the other admins.

I'll take this voting idea into consideration. Thanks for the input Tribal.
Currently to get into the channel you need an invite from someone already there.

On a side note, are we all joining #omnimag2 for a while now?
you can temporarily join #omnimaga2 if you wish
Can I be 'voiced'?
Yes. Just ask an operator to voice you.

I'm not too worried, especially with the fact that I'll be getting a job soon ( within the next couple of months ) and I'll pay for it for sure when I do.

Not to add further confusion, but does this invalidate DJ's previous news post?
Not completely. Currently the channel is still on invite only, so not everyone is going to get in. OmnomIRC is also not connected to the channel and will not be until the restructuring is done. So in a sense they are currently both shut down for public use. Just not forever.
@Hotdog:Voicing is simply the act of a channel operator giving a member joining the channel the ability to chat in the room. If they do not have "voice" status they cannot chat in the chat room.
only when a certain mode is set on the channel though. ( +m )

Thank you for the support.
Hopefully this will smooth out and become a better system.

News / Massive Restructure to IRC
« on: March 16, 2011, 01:57:24 am »
Due to recent incidents I have decided to do a massive restructure to IRC.
The channel is, for now going to be invite only as we get things set up. OmnomIRC will eventually be connected, but at the moment it will not.

We are no longer going to voice everybody in the channel, in fact the channel will be in private mode (or whatever it's called) continually, so no non-voiced members can chat. New joiners will have to request voice from ops and it will be at the ops discretion.
While we do want to help people, I think that this sort of instant communication where people can be hurt quite easily should be limited for those who we know wont hurt others. People who have proven themselves to be good will be given ident from netbot so they can autovoice.
The greet bot will now give a greet to all members who join with more information then just the link to the rules, but some more outlining some more specifics, and information on how to ident for those who can. Also who holds ops in the channel will be re-thought, more may be added, some may be taken away, no promises as of yet.

This restructure can be changed in the near future, but first all the admins need to have a discussion about it and until then the rules outlined above are to be followed.

There will be no complaints about this change especially since it is not final yet and the decision is final that there will be restructuring due to what has happened.

Thank you for your patience in this transition.

OMG! I thought it was still in the discussion/planning process O.O. I was skimming through the topic sometimes but I don't understand much, so I wasn't sure. I hope this works with the TI-Nspire, because it's certain I'm gonna try this at one point.
They have been working on it for the last two days I believe. I'm not sure it will work on the nspire though due to the usb being locked out of the 84+ emulator.
Also yeah happy pi day in advance, although for French people we still have until July 22nd. :P
oh really? :P
03/14 was yesterday for me, so it's already over for me :(

Note that this development is for the 84+(SE) only, not the ones without the USB ports ;)
Of course, maybe even later he will work on a silverlink version too :P I'm just hoping though :)

« on: March 15, 2011, 11:07:14 pm »
As this Cemetech news article states, gCn via direct USB is not far from finished. Soon we wont have to have an Arduino microcontroller board or a custom AVR USBHID bridge to connect to the internet via gcn.

In other news, happy belated Pi day :D
