Well, you could also just unzip the OS file, it contains the boot2 file.

I'm using the one from linux git at kernel.org. No defconfig there. In tangrs's version, you can just run "export ARCH=arm" before, and the nspire_defconfig automatically uses arm-none-eabi.

I've done that before (I was actually compiling my own kernel since November) with export ARCH=arm (no CROSS_COMPILE was needed), but now I'm using the new version from linux git, and theres no defconfig (which should be in arch/arm/configs). I could compile it, but I don't know exactly what CONFIGs I should enable.

In my Nspire, there are 6 screws right under the battery pack, which I unscrewed. Now i need to find a torx screwdriver... EDIT: What type of screwdriver is required for the screw under the top pad?  EDIT 2: It looks like a One-way screw, which needs a special tool to remove it.

Yes, my TI-Nspire CX which I received this May has hardware revision E. I could open it up and check when I have time.

Yeah but that was before Critor found that when you flash the old boot2, it doesn't run.
Look for calcs with hardware revision from A-I. My calcs have revisions D and E.

No, not unar, not unrar. The FOSS version of unrar supports only rarv2, but unar supports a variety of archive formats, including rarv3. BTW, the official version of unrar is proprietary.
