General Calculator Help / Re: Installing CAS on TI-Nspire CX Non-CAS
« on: November 11, 2013, 03:00:39 pm »
You need to check 3 things :
  • The manufacturing model (last letter of the timestamp). If > I, Throw it by the window.
  • The boot2. If > 3.1.x you have to downgrade it using a TTL/RS232 adaptator and a telnet unit.
  • The OS. If >= 3.2.4 you can still install nLaunch, but its prefered to downgrade anyway.

is the a way to remove or hide the 2D Editors in apilevel 1?
No, and this is why it exists in apilevel 2. In apilevel 1, D2Editors were unusable.

Calculator C / Re: Hide documents on TI-Nspire [Ndless]
« on: October 28, 2013, 03:10:59 pm »
Is there any possibility to make hide manager to work with TI-nspire CAS with clickpad? If yes, is there a 'step-by-step tutorial for dummies'?
Hide Manager works on the Clickpads.
Since it is an ndless program, you'll need OS 3.1 and ndless 3.1 (of course).
Just read the "readme" file given in the archive, it describes it all, the rest of the process is detailed inside the program itself.
HideManager has been made non-user friendly, and there is a reason for that : security.

Quick warning, DO NOT try this hack with a CX with 3.2.4.1237, for it bricks eternally and requires the calculator to be replaced altogether. :'( :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
no it doesn't, just install 3.2.4 back to it (or 3.6 now it came out - non officially thought)

I see.  Could you provide me detailed instructions on how to get to the diagnostic menu in the battery test section?

  • Hold the reset button
  • Hold ESC MENU [-] ( not the (-) )
  • Manual test
  • Battery test
  • Battery Pack Charging
  • Unplug USB cable if not already done
  • plug the USB cable
  • find a 3h movie and watch it
  • completed charging
  • Reset

Anyone know what the problem is.  Recently I have been getting charging problems in my nspire cx running the case cx.  My charging problem is that I plug the charger in and it has that charging sign on the battery and when I leave it overnight to charge the charging sign is still there and didn't charge at all.  I tried changing cords with my friend who has the cx but still same problem... Is there a fix? I have also tried hitting that reset button on the back but no dice....
This isn't related to nlaunch nor ndless and happends also on "vanila" nspires.
Indeed it seems the OS can't handle the charge of "used" batteries and have a  hard time to reset the battery indicator.
A quick fix is to charge from the diagnostic menu in the battery test section, and unplug/replug de USB cable from there.

I'm probably in the wrong section but I've found a bug in the current TI-System that makes the nspire cx cas crash and reboot. Where should this be reported to?
(And sorry again for posting in the wrong section...)
To report ... to the community in order to hack the OS, right ?
You may want to create a new topic, by giving a lot more detail than your current post, suchas the exact OS version.

News / Re: New TI-Nspire OS 3.6 with extra lockdown
« on: October 17, 2013, 01:07:55 pm »
Which is why I think it would be nice to have a third-party 3.2 to 3.1 (or any other version, even 1.1 to 3.1) converter, then if the program you attempt to convert uses commands not available in older OSes, it just notifies you and ask if you want to convert anyway (and remove the offending lines of code or not).
this feature actually exists in 3.1, I have documents created in 3.2 (exclusively Lua) that I can open in 3.1. When I open them, the OS prompts me a warning, but still opens it.

Take setAlpha for example .. it actually didn't work on the handheld but only on the computer software.
It used to work on 3.1, this function is directly linked to a nucleus GAFIX routine.

DJ_O suggested me to copy/paste my answer to the broken links issue here :

----

Instead of using http://ourl.ca/172700 just use http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?tttopic=14673.30 and when you encounter http://ourl.ca/172700 make a redirection to http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?tttopic=14673+n.30 where n is the offset.
Other than that, as Lionel said, you will nuke your google visitors, same for inner topic links, same for crossposting links.
So my idea would work I guess.

Just so you know, an Arduino Uno with the chip removed can be used as a USB TTL adapter. ;)
Why removed ? This (below) works perfectly.
