Funny I came from a Java background too, then I realized it was... Well... Quite a selfish language. So now I use C# to make games for PlayStation network

I've been doing mobile development for the last few years. Mainly Objective-C, I had also done some homebrew development on a psp back when it first came out. I really like what Sony has done in relation to their whole SDK policy for the mobile and Vita stuff.

shmibs is right on a few aspects...c++ isn't for beginners, however I never learned c first. I came from a java background. Pointers are going to be something you want to learn they are pretty important and powerful. Scoping and headers are probably another good area to read up on. How classes work would be in there too. Object Oriented Languages are awesome...

As for where to place the brackets in your code like in the four examples that shmibs gave. As he said the first two are usually the standard way of placing them. Go with which one makes it easier for you to read your code.

I could never send it with TI-Connect on my mac, but on my window side it transferred just fine. I'm pretty sure it is an issue with TI-Connect, after the recent update there has been issues with sending files.

Is this for a Mac or Windows OS? My TI-Connect on my Mac has being iffy at best.

If its a Mac open TI Device Explorer and then plug in your USB side first in your comp and then the other end into you calc. You should see your device pop up in TI Device Explorer. If it doesnt show up right away try hitting the refresh button in TI Device Explorer.

If your using Windows open Ti-Connect. Follow the same steps above for hooking up the cables. Then open TI Device Explorer and it should pop up a window where it will try to find a device to connect to. If you have done this before it might just go right to the TI Device Explorer screen without the little pop up. In that case you will see your device listed, with a bunch of sub-options, such as Screen Image, Device Settings and Flash/Archive. If you arent seeing this, you probably have to install the driver for TI-Connect.

I have had nothing but problems with TI-Connect on my Mac...it actually worked better before this update. No I get an error about "The attached device failed to respond with a specified time. Please check your link connections and try again." I had a heck of a time getting it to work yesterday. I finally got stuff sent to my calc by going to my windows side. I might have to get a silver link cable my usb port might be crapping out.

Just wanted to say congrats on winning POTY 2012 Deep Thought. You got my vote, I was truly impressed by the great transition of this from the mobile space to our little old graphing calculators. The controls were a stroke of genius and everything else was top notch. I dont know if I said this on RS but well done! You deserve all the praise that you have got not only from us but from others around the web.

I do have a backup from like a month ago I think...I was thinking about temporarily opening a forum somewhere. It's still a possibility.

Hey, I thought I would stop in and at least post a little update. The active staff know that RS is down, we have been trying to get a hold of Kevin...but no luck. I was hoping we would have been up by last week, but with Kevin not in school until sometime right about now I'm not sure if he even has access to his email. One of us, either Spencer or I will take care of hosting and hopefully the domain from this point forward. That way this issue wont happen again.

Things have been kinda hectic for me the past few months, I was planning on moving, but decided to stick around with some friends. I'm working 50 hour weeks and havent had time to follow up on things or work on my projects. I've also been getting a lot of stuff going career wise so I got my fingers crossed that something comes up there. I'll post an update when I know we are back for sure.

p.s. TI-Planet looks awesome!

Hey Hot_Dog, I was sorry to hear about your laptop getting stolen and the project getting disbanded. It was pretty impressive all the stuff that you accomplished though and the other stuff that you have done despite not releasing this is surely going to help the community. I cant wait to see what other "smaller, less important" projects you come up with, because they are gonna be great.

Edit: Ha ha yes I did mean Hot_Dog, sorry I was looking at something else when I was typing.

Just thought I would let everyone know that the competition deadline is coming up quickly. A little less than a month to go until the entries are due. Good luck to all the entries.
