Humour and Jokes / Re: 9001 signs you're addicted to calcs and Omni
« on: October 13, 2013, 07:53:33 pm »
Oh yeah, I remember the events of Christmas 2010. I was there at the time, I was the one who called, it was kinda scary, but it was for DJ's good. I'm really happy and proud that those events finished with a good ending. I dunno if you wanna talk about it, DJ, that's up to you :)

And I think what helped him is that I started to regularly hang out with him IRL, therefore solving the no IRL interaction problem.
I thought this thread was a joke... I didn't realize that people can actually be that addicted to calcs and Omni... this makes me scared of programming on my calculator. :O
Erm actually at that time I wasn't even programming for calculators anymore. I was mainly active from 2001 to early 2010 then started a bit again in 2013 after the color 84+ and HP Prime were announced. In late 2010 I was mainly active posting here. And yes the numbered stuff in this thread is a joke, as many of them are exaggerated (although some might actually be true). What I was saying is that my 2010 life collapse (which has long since been resolved) led to me spending much more time online.

Anyway back on-topic:
5643: When you become grandpa and see your little kids, you'll actually teach them calculator programming but with bad programming habits from way back then
So omni addiction is a symptom of real life collaspe...
5645 : People put tablets in their three YO kids' hands. You'll give yours calcs.

5649: You would never let a 3YO touch your calcs. (1 story)

I agree that the portal would transfer no momentum, however as out portal is at 45 degrees, the box would tumble out.

Nspire I/O / Re: How can I do IO through the USB port 4 cx CAS?
« on: October 13, 2013, 12:38:43 am »
I thought there was only one usb port?

EDIT: Sorry, I see it's for, not 4. For some reason I read it as USB through pin 4 (presumably in the serial port.

TI-BASIC / Re: [Nspire] Optional arguments
« on: October 11, 2013, 06:03:42 pm »
Nope, sorry :(

(Although you may try passing a table and take what's inside)
You mean taking in a list/matrix as an argument?

TI-BASIC / [Nspire] Optional arguments
« on: October 11, 2013, 05:52:22 pm »
So I was programming in TI-Nspire BASIC, and I was wondering if there was a way to specify an optional argument in a program. The built-in functions have these, so I was wondering if TI implemented it for user-created functions.

So... why is higher wattage a good thing?

EDIT: Oh watt hours.

Introduce Yourself! / Re: Hello Omni!

Thanks. You're a lucky guy. Over here (Portugal) it still costs about 160.0 EUR (= 222.983 CAD), ~40% more expensive, yeah! It looks like we live in some sort of technological apartheid. We earn less why should we (our kids) pay a lot more. crazy, imho! Not your fault, of course. ;)
Dang! That whole USD=EUR things retailers do must be really nasty.
Woo a fellow Canadian! Welcome on Omnimaga and have some peanuts!
Thanks! Seems to be quite a few Canadians on here.

Also, if I may ask, why is there such a large French language calculator community?

Calculator C / Re: Nspireio Help

So basically... the basic input command is nio_gets. How do I get it to store the input as a variable? Or is text the variable being used in the example?
