TI-Nspire / Re: TI-89 emulator for TI-Nspire
« on: December 26, 2009, 11:31:29 pm »
darn that's awesome, I wonder if there will be a way to convert TI-89 files to Nspire format, or will it be possible to just include them with a ROM? loaded into a .tns file?
I think all of that would have to be resolved once we find the exploit. Right now I'm running without any OS whatsoever.

TI-Nspire / TI-89 emulator for TI-Nspire

I've been working on this over Christmas break - got the AMS to successfully load today :)

It's emulating a TI-89 HW2, though a lot of the emulation is still incomplete (I mostly just tried to make the AMS happy so far)

Eh, it's more like I made way too many mistakes with my implementation. I don't think there's very much code I'll be able to reuse anyway. Graphics, of course, are a different story. ;)

Coolio.  Although i think it might be having the same grayscale problem that fZero was having.
Well, I don't think that the tilemap will be scrolling by one pixel per frame in-game. It's quite possible that it will look much better during gameplay.

Added a pretty-looking water tile (a special case of tile animation):

Hopefully I'll be able to make a sprite routine soon, and start adding support for game objects.

TI-Boy SE - Game Boy Emulator For TI-83+SE/84 / Re: TI-Boy SE

could someone manual replace the new ram chip with an old one?
I'm pretty sure that in the 84+ series, the RAM is on the same chip as the processor (though I could be wrong)

But I'll have to wait for that... :(
You would have to wait just as long (maybe longer) for me to get one working on the TI-84+ emulator though :P

Hey, at least when we get ARM assembly running on the Nspire, you can have a nice alternative with full speed and graphics. :)

Well, it's not quite that bad. TI-83+ Silver works, and TI-84+ works with smaller games.

I was referring to this post when I asked if you could tell ahead of time which games will work on older calculators. I was wondering if you could tell which games would work on 83+SE or 84+ calculators, not the 84+SE. I already know about that one.
Anything that works on a good 84+SE should work on an 83+SE. A good 84+ should be able to play ROMs of size 256KB or less.

I also doubt the 84+ emulator on the Nspire supports some of the more complex memory mapping that I use.

It's got my vote, too! I'm afraid that most people won't vote for it because they haven't been able to use it because they don't have a good enough calculator. It's a pretty slim margin. It has to be an 84, not 83, it has to be plus silver edition, and not just plus, It can't be the NSpire, and it has to be made several years ago. People will probably vote for their favorite program that they've been able to use themselves. Hopefully I'm wrong, though.

Mmmm, might it be that the dithering changes, and then is shifted down one pixel, so it looks the same?
Yep, that's exactly it. The dithering is currently relative to the top of the mode7 area, not the top of the screen.

Is it just the screenshot, or does the greyscale turn off on the upper quadrant when it moves?  Besides that, awesome screenshot! :D
Yeah, I didn't get the dithering to change the right way when changing the size of the split windows.

It should be - I haven't sent it to my Nspire lately though.
