I have never posted anything I have composed.
I have never been happy with anything I have composed. :P

Hopefully that'll change soon :P

General Discussion / Re: Favorite Music
« on: May 08, 2013, 10:18:11 pm »
I like a lot of music from 1970-1990.
And then I like a lot of piano music from before then.
Chopin, Beethoven, and Rachmaninoff are my favorites.
Dapianokid recently introduced me to Rachmaninoff. I'm learning how to play this one now.

Oh :P
But still, if 60/80 was the minimum for a 5, you'd only need to get 75% correct

Okay... I think I get it.
I also have some more questions (our teacher went over topics and we all pretended we knew everything to avoid embarrassment :P).
What's a javadoc and everything to do with it?
What's Autoboxing (and will it be on the AP test)?
I took a practice and got 69.3 - a 5 is 60-80. Do you think I'm safe from getting a 4 if I make dumb mistakes?
What? 60-80 out of 100? O.O O.O

Computer Programming / General Java Questions
« on: May 06, 2013, 12:03:02 am »
I thought it would be a good idea to have one of these topics in the java subforum.
If anybody has a java question that isn't significant enough for its own topic, it can be posted here.

Technically, it's not a primitive type, but I still kinda like to think of it as one... Idk

Well, that only returns one result, and it's often not the desired one :P

My CS teacher is horrible too.
It would be nice if she would say something to the class every once in a while :P
Even though the teacher is useless, I taught myself the material and think I'll probably get a 4 or 5.

Thanks- that pretty much clears it up :D

And fields in interfaces are implicitly static and final, right?

Computer Programming / Some Java questions

What is the difference between an interface and an abstract class?
The only difference I can see is that all methods in an interface are abstract, while abstract class can contain both concrete and abstract methods.

Can you define fields inside an interface or abstract class, and what would those be used for?

What the heck does Encapsulation mean?

What is the difference between a static method and a non-static method?

Is this an example of an enhanced for loop?
Code: [Select]
String[] maga= {"you", "lost", "the", "game"};
for(String omni:maga}
     System.out.println(omni);

Introduce Yourself! / Re: You've been great, folks!
« on: May 03, 2013, 10:06:17 pm »
I've been rather reluctant to post in this thread- but only because I was unsure of what to say on the matter.

I've heard a lot of discussion on this topic mention religion and Christianity.
Not being a religious person myself, I don't understand how religion ties in with all this.
However, I can still tell that it means a lot to Dapianokid and a few others of you, so I respect your faith, whatever it might be.

On the issue of censoring words, I feel that restrictions should be quite low.
I don't really care what words are used, but rather how they are used.
When used out of offensive context, occasional swearing is acceptable. But when used offensively, then there's a problem.
Also, a sentence without swears can easily be more offensive or inappropriate then a sentence with swears.
I therefore feel that a word filter is pointless, as an individual "bad word" on it's own is meaningless. It would catch only some of the offensive content, and still block a lot of inoffensive content.

For surveillance and restriction on a computer.
I guess I can't say I know what this is like; as long as I remember, I've had unsupervised administrative access on the household computers.
But I'll give my two cents anyway: Parents have the right to raise their children the way they think is best for them. I think, generally, the amount of restriction is up to them.
But nevertheless, I think there might be a point where it goes too far for me to easily accept it. Like a constant surveillance of everything ever visited, every private message sent, everything ever typed... I think taking it to that extent might start to become a serious invasion of privacy.

Now in the case of Dapianokid:
It is evident that, although his father has put on some pretty hefty restrictions, he still gives his full appreciation, trust, and respect toward him.
He recognizes that his father knows what he's doing, and is doing it out of love for the overall good.
And instead of being angry for these limitations, he is thankful.

Hearing all that is just great. It is awesome that he gives his parents all the respect they deserve, and acknowledges the positive reasoning behind their punishments.
Not every teenager do the same.

And me, my parents give me a great amount of trust, and especially after reading all of this topic, I feel that I should really show my thankfulness for all of it.
Perhaps I should do something nice for my parents this weekend :D

Actually it would have to be 2 separate pianos
It is pretty much impossible for that to be played on one piano :P
