A new model? Just a google search and found this:

Quote
Graphing Calculator NY Schools - Special School Model. Allows students to input in a natural textbook display fashion but the fx-9860GII S outputs or displays results only in format allowed by schools. 4-AAA batteries included.

http://www.officeegghead.com/browse.ihtml?step=5&prodstoreid=12024&pid=1787475

Seems to have restrictions in output.

News / Re: Customize your Casio off-screen logo with a BitMaP image

Looks really nice.
And probably using this way is also possible customize the icons of the menu (default apps) and apply "themes" like casio AFX.

In fx-cp400 there is a native option for shutdown images, using custom casio property images. I wrote a program to create .c2p images in basic called CPaint, but currently are only 8 colors available.
Maybe casio release in future a tool to convert images like prizm converter.

BTW: Possibility of you crosspost this at casiopeia?

Usually books have a special barcode that is not associated to any country.
Most books have barcode started with 978/979. If you put it in barcoder, it will identify "Country: books".

But in your case perhaps the book belongs to an American publisher or is the place where it is sold (main target).

Next, we need a giant database so it'll find a picture as well and comparison of prices. j/k
the best would be to use wifi/internet and connect the calculator with a site/database (with API) of barcodes.
However most users do not have web on calc (including me) so it is not feasible.

Anyway, the idea of a database gave me a new idea for a project :)

Barcoder is a program (available for casio and nspire) that can get information of barcodes.
It's something simple but I think is nice (for geeks :P).

It currently supports the following types of bar codes:
►EAN/UCC-8
►UCC-12
►EAN/UCC-13
►EAN/UCC-14

From a barcode (of the above type) this program can "extract" the following information:
►Country*
►Manufacturer Code
►Item code

*Sometimes the country shown is not the country of origin of the product but the place where it is sold.

The idea is based on java application "barcoder" by blackstripstudios (http://blackstrip.ru/soft.php?softyp=java&lang=en&softid=2) for mobile phones. Currently this program contains all functions of the original program, except verification of valid/invalid barcodes.

Download for Prizm

Download Nspire version: attached.

Line 70 in Casiofx9860.h  from 0x06 to 0x05. (and only will work with gii) (by pierrotll)
A dev called "hhacker" recently did a fix for xfer9860 to work with all models (even PG2), he has not released it but maybe you can ask him here.

A couple q's which should prolly be easy enough to answer..
- Is it compatible with the 9860gii? Not familiar with the French model names and the US/NA equivalents :P
Yes, Is compatible with all fx9860 models with sh3 processor.
Isnt yet compatible with Power Graphic 2 models (processor sh4).

- Is there a 9860gii link program for linux? (I found xfer9860 but it doesn't seem to be compatible w/gii)
You need change a line in source code for xfer9860 work with gii models.

Is it just because the gif is huge or is it really that slow?
Nobody likes the gif :P I should have optimized him before.
1,974,66 kb (with 237 frames) is an acceptable size for him: http://i.imgur.com/Y6ZGRAz.gif ?

For people who do not have arduino the cheapest way is to use a MAX233A with a 2.5 mm stereo jacket.

Web Programming and Design / Re: Free Web Hosting Service?
« on: February 24, 2013, 05:55:45 pm »
I know a forum that has many offers of free web hosting, check it: http://www.freewebhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?18-Free-Hosting-WITHOUT-ADS&s=dae2338318ca5d1e59b332d2efdfe526

There are many offers of free hosting and others pay 2 post. But, be careful before choosing an offer.
I recommend you check the age of the domain of companies and only choose one with > 1 year (at least).
And make regular backups.

Yep, perhaps the best solution is placing Prizm information in Cemetech Wiki and fx9860 in Planet Casio wiki.

« on: January 08, 2013, 07:13:17 am »
I assume this means it will be much easier to port PRIZM games to it?
I do not know well.
As i remember, there are only 2 games ported between classpad300/330 and fx9860.
The classpad use the touch screen and keyboard as input whereas prizm only use keyboard.
The screens also have different resolution.

the program used to transfer files is fa-124. When you install it, it also install the driver. Assuming you already have this program installed, you do not need any extra software.

i did a post about fx9860 files transfer some weeks ago, maybe this can help you. It is organized by extensions, but still I think it will be helpful.

My suspicions about your problem
1) Usb cable or pc usb port damaged. Try change the cable or COM port.
2) Maybe you have in Link menu, Cable Type: 3 pin, instead of the usb.

I hope my post will help you.
