What OS do you use? I use a gentoo offshoot which has a tool to set up the right environment.
You just have to compile it to build for windows and isolate it from the usual gcc(usually by location and name)

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet, but most of the options should be disabled by default instead of all being enabled(or is it just me that has them all at yes by default)

The only dorito commercial I've seen so far has been really creepy. It has grown men dressing up in dresses and horrible makeup while stuffing their faces

Do you use SDL_DisplayFormat for helping loading the image to format well? That could cause the problem with the image.
