well, with the hardware we're dealing with, and reflex based battle system portrayed here, non-smooth motions would work much better as response times would be quicker. i've always found old system reflex-based games with smooth motions(like mortal kombat) incredibly frustrating because of how non-responsive the controls seem.

hey, cool! i can watch youtub vids again(probably because my father was watching something earlier and forgot to re-enable the filter.)
damn, as far as making rpgs goes, that would be EASY! it looks like there are a lot of large maps as well as usable items, but that's all just data. the battles look pretty simple, too, as all motions are on a half-tile grid(no smoothscrolling or any crazy collision-detection methods needed) and look like they could be really fun, too!

1).how exactly does gameplay in this rpg work (i've never heard of it before). it looks interesting, combining sidescrolling and overhead into one game. 2).the colour choices in those screenies look kind of wonky (to the point that it's sort of atari-esque ) and would probably actually look BETTER in gray or mono. 3).i haven't given up on either of those projects, just waiting until i have freetime again.

Would you, by any chance, happen to have bought an epic Mario hoodie yesterday? Yes! How did you know? wonderful clothing makes everything better! tonight i ordered this shirt, although i was a little sad about not being fast enough to catch this oneanyways, don't worry about pushing yourself to update things. work on the stuff for which you have deadlines first. you don't want to end up like me, do you?

/\An Rpg in monochrome like this wouldn't be tasking on the processor, so it would be simple enough to mask everything over a moving-star backbuffer to achieve that effect.
i like the way this looks, and am a bit tempted to take a stab at it(though i know that, at least until january, there's no way i'd be able to do something so tasking[not to mention the two large projects i'm already supposedly working on =P])

Pressing alpha-character jumps to program in compile menu
Manual backup key is now "Alpha" so does that mean that, in order to use the alpha jump feature, one has to hold alpha while pressing a letter key? or do you mean just pressing a letter key on its own...

oddly enough, the last time i had an accidental RAM clear of any kind was during the summer. that's when my programming activity dropped, though, so i guess it makes sense...

/\i wouldn't mind that either, although it would mean someone would have to spend time keeping it up to date, no?

/\yeah, i noticed(and was displeased by) the change to myspace as well. as far as social networking goes, i don't really mind what people see because i don't have much to hide(and am doubtful that any internet creeps are going to bother driving to my house when there are plenty of people to creep around in their own neighbourhoods. i tend not use that type of site often, though, because people i dislike use them and are constantly trying to add me/getting angry when i don't(or post stupid crap all over when i accidentally do). my elder brother (who is extremely paranoid ) deleted all of his accounts on facebook, etc for just that reason(he was a teacher at my school, actually, but a bunch of students [as well as other teachers] there are dicks and were constantly harassing him until he finally quit[to back up my previous statement, here is a quick list of things which have been thrown at me this year by students and teachers: one (1) copy of St. Augustine's Confessions four (4) full bottles of water one (1) partially-eaten kit-kat bar two (2) hand-fulls of rocks one (1) napkin (taped shut) filled with ovaltine two (2) pouches-worth of capri sun juice two (2) basketballs one (1) empty water bottle one (1) apple one (1) brick ])
