For some reasons the 2nd font reminds me of Zelda LA.
that's what it is :P

* shmibs wonders if people will recognise that second one (although the m and w wouldn't fit...)

ooh, this sounds really fun =)
and yeah, it could be a very helpful way to introduce people to asm as well.

What made you decide to leave out registers?
the only reason to have registers in a processor is to make things faster, so you don't have to be accessing ram constantly.

we should probably sticky an explanation on how to do this, because people keep asking about it every two weeks or so, it seems.

it would be useful for copying chunks of the back buffer to the front buffer, rather than recalling the whole thing.
what i'm talking about could be accomplished with:
For(L,0,7
copy(L*12+<buffer one offset>, L*12+<buffer two offset>,1
End
, for example.

what about just drawing sprites from byte-aligned positions on a buffer (so reading every twelfth byte rather than all in one contiguous chunk)? that would give, basically, the same functionality.

^that would actually be very very useful, if it could be managed at a decent speed.

* shmibs agrees with ranman
it's a EULA, which means it probably wouldn't hold up in court, as there is no way to prove that you actually read and accepted the terms when acquiring the os (you may have gotten it from the calculator of a friend who downloaded it, for example, which is a possibility enabled by TI themselves with the "send OS" option). furthermore, it would only potentially affect users, as nothing at all can be said against people producing third-party emulators without a shred of code from any TI product in them. lastly, this is all assuming that they would bother paying attention and taking action against single users in the first place, which is highly unlikely.

EDIT: all that being said, the 84+SE C is a huge disappointment, and is practically the best possible move TI could have made if their intention was to dismantle the community (or the part of it focussed on the z80 series, at least).

i didn't say "i'm unable to", i don't think. there's always email, and people reply to things in the staff forum; there just isn't much talking of its own accord.

So according to them, gravity is nonexistent and objects fall to the earth because the earth is perpetually accelerating upward.
Hmm, disproof:

1] Assume gravity does not exist and that in fact, the earth is perpetually accelerating upward.
2] Ignore the fact that 'up' is defined in relation to the direction of gravity. Assume that 'up' simply means that the earth is accelerating in one direction.
3] Select two objects.
4] Drop object one from a reasonable height, followed by object two.
5] Record the velocity of both objects at any given moment.
6] Note that the velocities are different.

If the Earth was in fact accelerating toward the objects and the objects were in fact not moving relative to the universe, there velocity relative to the Earth would be identical.

that doesn't quite work. if you drop one after the other, then the one you are holding will continue to accelerate due to the force applied by your hand, while the other would cease accelerating as soon as you dropped it. thus, the object dropped second would be nearer the velocity of the earth than the object dropped first at the point you measure.

ok, this makes a few more bug fixes and actually signing the app this time X_X
if nobody finds any bugs, this version is going up on ticalc tomorrow.
* shmibs has already spent a bit testing it.

Site Feedback and Questions / Updating the Site Banner
« on: February 10, 2013, 11:19:59 pm »
it seemed about time to update the old banner again, seeing as how the pictures and screenshots are a bit out of date. changing around the style completely wouldn't go well with the current theme, though. post any suggestions for screenshots you'd like to see up there! also, should "The Coders of Tomorrow - Since 2001" be changed to a different font? post suggestions for that as well!

EDIT: wip version below. tell me what to change!

EDIT2: ok, i think it's done.
