it looks like an opensolaris distro that this company put together for their own use and is now hosting for download and offering commercial support for as well, kind of like redhat.

i doubt that will do anything if resending from the computer didn't help, but it could be ti connect being broken, i guess, so go ahead and try it.

you have to trade kadabra to get an alakazam.

take out a battery, hold del, and put it back in. that will put you at the os transfer screen; then just use ti-connect to send 2.43

he is using analogue input from the controller to increase/decrease the voltage in the section on the right. as the voltage increases, the light on the bottom gets brighter, and, at a certain voltage, power is able to flow through the resistor that connects to the next light. this process is repeated, so that, as he pushes the joystick forward, more light up and, as he pulls it back, fewer do.

or that's what i think is going on, at least.

Gaming Discussion / Re: Steel Storm Burning Retribution - anyone?

yeah, this game is pretty fantastic. =D
it doesn't play very well with my (lack of) graphics card, though. i had to run it in some compatibility mode just to get the font to display (and it's all ugly now), and on some levels no textures are displayed at all, so everything is white.
anyways, how does multiplayer work? and did you see the new weapon pack that just came out?

ooh, cool! so you can make parser hooks that automatically open up different menus and things like that? if so, could this be used to add simpler keybindings for inserting tokens into the program EDITor? (pressing three keys at once automates opening up the program menu and selecting something or other)?

News / Re: James Vernon releases AB4 and Invaded

AB4 was still just a demo, and i thought that the other version of invaded was only for 83, as it was in that section, but, looking at it now, it has an 8xp file as well...
i guess it should be "James Vernon releases AB4 and updates Invaded"

News / James Vernon releases AB4 and Invaded

James Vernon has just released two wonderful games for the 83/4+, Invaded, a side scrolling shoot-em-up, and Alien Breed IV, the conclusion to his popular series.

Invaded features many different enemy types, bosses, fun terrain, and a few other things. The most notable feature of all, however, is a powerup called "the Orb". the Orb can be attached to one's ship on either front or back by simply running into it, and detached again with alpha. when attached, it acts as a shield against weaker bullets, while leaving it on its own causes it to fire at the same time you do. you can also pick up weapon bonuses which increase the blob's power, giving it different weapons while it is attached or the ability to fire four bullets when detached. altogether, it makes for a pretty unique experience.
oh, and it includes a custom level editor as well, written for windows machines.  ;D

the second of James' two games, Alien Breed IV: Final Assault, is a top down shooter. there are separate objectives for each level, but the basic premise of the game is "to blast away as many of the aliens as you can to save the Human race." it has a pretty full feature set, including clean, four-way smooth scrolling maps, interactable map elements, different weapon types, a radar, alien spawning pits, multiple enemy types, one way doors, time limits for certain areas, and more! the enemy AI is a bit basic, but with that many enemies being simulated at once i'm not going to complain. check it out!

ooh, this is pretty good =) the not very many bullets/slow shooting definitely gives it a different dynamic than other games of its kind.
the sound lags to a ridiculous degree for me, though, either playing late or not at all. also, you should add some specific key to be pressed in order to restart; as it is right now, i am always trying to run away when i die, and so am pressing one or several of wasd, causing it to restart instantly before i can see the final score.

i tested it out, and it's pretty fantastic =)
the game gives a completely different feel when running faster.

this does look pretty great =)
you should increase the contrast in your graphics, though.
vs.

also, how did you manage to make it cross-compatible? i bet there are a lot of people who would be interested in that =)

-encouraging more staff activity is always a good thing =)

-both irc and the forums have uses when it comes to helping people. irc is useful for both little questions and communication between developers, and the forum is good for complex questions, community-wide pole type things, or just general showcases.

-we can encourage people to post, sure (and i, for one, would like to hear more from people talking about their entries), but enforcing it seems a bit silly for contests. anyways, entrants announced/winners announced posts will provide places for discussing them at the very least. also, making people post before they've finished encourages them getting help from others.

-plans for the next contest are already being talked about =)

-i don't know much about nspire stuff, so can't really comment here, but some sort of guide to writing cross-platform C would be awesome =D

-we can't really force people to post. seeing more activity in other subforums would be nice, though.
