ohithur! welcome and things! good luck on learning things. there's usually at least one person around here who knows any given language, so feel free to ask questions and things.

an app could manage it with keyhooks, i think. if so, maybe thepenguin could stick it in zstart? i doubt there's enough room to do it and keep the page size down, though, what with all he has in there already.

to me it looks like everything played out perfectly normally. ubuntu was indeed installed on the 320 gb disk, and windows was left on the 500. you can see this as windows lists the second disk as unused, because it doesn't recognise ext4.
like juju said, GRUB is installed in the MBR (Master Boot Record), so it was necessary to overwrite the windows bootloader for ubuntu to run. how were you planning on booting into either ubuntu or wondows without GRUB's menu to select the one you wanted? if all you want is for windows to be the default, then it's easy enough to change it's config files to do so.
EDIT: if you want to make windows the default boot option, edit /boot/grub/grub.cfg and change
set default="0"
to
set default="4" (i think it should be 4, given the screenshots, but you can count yourself to double check. all the options are listed in the file below there, headed with
menuentry <whatever>
you'd have to have it still installed, though, of course.

ddr3 is the most recent, although most things are still using 2
ecc and dimm are two different things. ECC ram is error correcting ram, which means it has an extra 8 bits to work with, making it slower but more reliable. DIMM just means that it's dual sided rather than single sided.

do you have any experience with this stuff yet? if not, you should just grab yourself a breadbord, some wires, some basic gates/capacitors/LED's/switches/etcetera and just try setting up a few simple circuits that implement different expressions(things like (AandB)or(BandC)or not(D)) before you start working with anything more complicated. after that, try setting up simple devices, like a receiver for a key fob (those things that open garages/car doors).

is there any way to draw a single column of pixels that's faster than drawing the same column with Pt-On(?

CPU is DEFINITELY important when it comes to playing games. video cards, as well as other computer parts, tend to go up in price exponentially, so if you aren't sure it usually isn't worth it. a friend of mine recently had luck with this site: http://www.ibuypower.com/IbpPages/Notebook.aspx

true, but an open source solution still might be worth looking into at some point down the line, as many of the people who would look for a solution like this one are likely to be people who don't know how to dump a ROM, or don't have a linking cable.
i love the idea of integrating it into the site's archives! something that coule fetch and execute files from ticalc would be very useful as well.

i love all the updates! a question: why do all the boxes in this room see you as the light source rather than the glow in the centre of the room?

doesn't 4 batteries at 1.5 volts each make 6 total? anyways, i tried this before as well, on a whim, but decided against using it after that for fear of making something explode.

yup, you could! changing the images/colours used by plymouth bootloader is pretty straight forward. assuming that's what the latest ubuntu is still using, just look in /lib/plymouth.

/\agreed there
three questions for builder: does zedd really make these things that easy? does it only work for single screen games, or could it be applied to something with scrolling backgrounds? will i gain much from looking through the source?
