OmnomIRC Development / Re: Repeated Messages
« on: August 23, 2011, 07:48:42 pm »
I have a thought: it might be a latency issue. A packet get's sent, and Omnom lags just enough for it to be resent by the PC before omnom responds. Omnom's confirmation comes, the PC assumes it was for the second packet, and omnom posts the message twice.

Is that possible? Then it would just be a lag issue.

If you use a screen recorder set to the same FPS as your gif, you should be able to convert easily.

I could do it for you if you need it.'

Edit: Can WMM open OGVs?

Well, I suppose licensing it to those committees that do require it would be essential for the calculator to be popular in those areas.

Wow. I hope you're right about the aftershocks, and that they don't come!

Supposedly, my area is overdue for a bi quake, too. Of course, when a geologist says "any day now" and it happens 500 years later they say "I told you so!" so I'm not too worried.

Oh, and I didn't feel it in Box Elder County, Utah :P Just a wee bit too far, I guess.

So, is there any chance of finding something like this in the nspire? I'd love to see that.

Great news!

Actually it would be allowed on exams as long as it fulfilled their requirements. The ACT's, at least, is an exclusion-based list, not an inclusion-based one, meaning that while it does list examples that are allowed, it has general requirements that you can apply to any calculator to determine whether it's allowed.

The only requirements:
Non-CAS
It can't be marketed as a PDA or computer, so no laptops or tablets.
No communication Devices, i.e. cell phones, and no bluetooth/Wifi.

Sound must be able to be turned off if present.

Computer Usage and Setup Help / Re: best virus protection?
« on: August 23, 2011, 06:44:11 pm »
Actually, the world's best virus protection is to never allow your computer any communication with anything, in any shape or form. Often unplugging your ethernet cable and disabling your wifi is enough. :P

There's always a balance to security and usability. I like to think Linux shifts that balance far more into usability's favor.

Yeah, the 92's shape was great, but too big. It would have been perfect if it had been just the qwerty area, without the sidebar, and a little smaller screen.

A clamshell would be pretty sweet. Maybe you could see if you could buy openPandora cases, and use those! That would be the perfect shape and size, then throw in your own board.

Ad-Aware is a great supplement to another scanner. Malware bytes is an essential tool for removing horrible infections, but not so great for everyday use.

I was going to suggest linux, but since it's already been brought up 3 times I'll refrain. :P

Is that 16 colors for the still shots too? O.O Time for some alterations :P That is 16 inside 24 or 32 bit color, as in a 16 color pallete, right? Not the standard 16 colors?

Yeah, I can do that. I meant with the new portrait when I asked if you needed me to do them again. I think I'll do it better this time, is there a limit to how many frames I can use, or a specific number or whatnot?
