The best way is with the memory card exploit, Free McBoot. Technically a software modification, but it requires homebrew of some other kind first, like a swap disc.

Then, install ESR, and burn games after patching them. It makes the games pretend to be DVD Videos, so the system doesn't reject them. Then, the ESR loader loads them as a game. With Free McBoot installed, it will automatically launch burned DVDs the same way it normally launches games.

We wouldn't need to replace the bootloader if it takes standard ELFs. Just load linux with it.

I can burn games to recordable DVDs. That's the only way I know of to play KH2 Final Mix in english.

TI-Nspire / Re: Windows for nSpire

Windows 8 is not the only windows with ARM support.

WinCE has supported arm for well over a decade. It became Windows Phone 7, but before that it was actually a fairly normal Windows installation, with a desktop and whatnot.

My question is: Why would you want this? We already have the means of running a decent GUI in Linucx with X, and making it run Windows won't let you run any windows programs.

I got a copy of Romancing Saga 2 (SNES, Japanese) at an anime conference in exchange for showing off a bunch of DK64 glitches at a gaming booth.

I took it apart, and I'm currently debating whether to leave the PCB intact, to salvage it, or to turn it into a flash cart.

Yes, DJ, this is what I'm referring to.

General Calculator Help / Re: Greyscale bad for TI-84 plus/se screen?
« on: November 07, 2013, 05:35:45 pm »
As far as the LCD goes, all that's happening is that the voltage on a pixel wavers in a mid-range, instead of being full power. LCDs do not mind being treated as such, and have a wide range of safe voltages to operate at. The contrast adjust uses this to its advantage.

The "test mode" overvolts the LCD, which will harm it.

@ben_g some instructions use more power than others, due to their increased physical complexity. The constant RAM writes caused by greyscale use a great deal more power than RAM reads and internal arithmetic. The most efficient instruction as power/cycle would be NOP.

1) How did you first learn about Omnimaga and what aspect influenced you to stay?

This took some digging. It looks like I found the site (or at the very least created an account) to talk about nspire development. This was in the days when installing ndless meant running the original OS version, with a certain power management bug that made your batteries drain really fast.

2) Do you feel as if we have similarities outside of programming naturally. If so, what are they? (i.e. MLP fans)

I don't think this counts for what you're asking, but there's the shared interest by many members in general electronics.

3) For what reason(s) do you frequent Omnimaga over other sites like Cemetech or TIPlanet? (Or vise-versa)

TI-Planet is french, and I don't speak french. Not much of a reason, I know. :P

Mostly, there's more activity on Omni and most of Cemetech maintains a semi-active presence to the point that being active on both sites only affects whether maybe 4-5 people see me. Omni also has a better layout imo.

4) Do you consider the community of Omnimaga to have a main goal(s)? (if so, what are they?)

I would say there are several factions of Omni with their own goals, and members generally belong to at least one. I will list them:

The programming faction, who use the calculator to fulfill their own purposes through programs.
subsets include:
The hacking faction. (Critor, thepenguin, etc) which focuses on making the calculator do what TI prevents.
The power faction. (Runer, calc84, etc) which focuses on making the calculator do things as well as possible
The gamer faction, which focuses on making entertainment-oriented programs. (Much of the community)
The helper faction, which focuses on making things for other people to use. (Axe, Grammer, the various IDEs, etc.)
The BASIC faction, which focuses on making programs entirely through the crippled built-in languages. (This includes Lua)

The MLP fans, whose sole purpose is to annoy me. (j/k)

5) How do you feel your relationship is with other members?

Lurker, mostly.

6) Do you find that Omnimaga (and calc programming) has helped you in the outside world?

Yes, occasionally. My programming experience has helped in many cases, for example.

7) What is your favorite inside joke/lingo?  (i.e. Holy Necropost Batman!  or Welcome peanuts etc.)

Netham, while a blue lobster, has a pink username.

8) What country are you from?

USA

You can't email a 6 MB file?

Your best bet would probably be to lose the gif. If you really want a screenshot, lower the framerate and resolution.

My teachers have never asked for a RAM clear, even for national tests like the ACT and AP tests.

General Calculator Help / Re: TI-84 OS Language
« on: November 06, 2013, 12:44:36 am »
That had nothing to do with this topic at all though. His question was about the operating system, which is the same language across all models.

Definitely Asm. The OS doesn't look anything like something coded in C.

@Hayleia this question applies to literally every model you mentioned, as well as all 83+ models. Kind of a moot point.
