Honestly, there's no reason to buy one if they do release another revision. The only useful thing left to implement and still have an nspire would be a qwerty keyboard, and we all know that's not gonna happen, because of SAT/ACT

Ah, good! I rather like the idea of power-conscious asm applications.

it is also very old, older than the 83+ but newer than the 83 I believe. However, I'll bet he was right in the description about it being overclocked. No calc had that speed in TI-Basic Naturally. after all, that was the time when overclocking was popular.
Pics take up a little more space too, but not a whole lot more. On the 86 they're 1024 Bytes.
The real issue I had with the 86 was no archive space. Using just ram meant you could only have about 5 pics before your program got rather unwieldly.

Special Connector with the wire soldered back into the connector, rather than into another connector.

Actually, one idea I heard was making a loop connector. You could send yourself stuff, and consequently unlock the calc. just send L1
That's right.

maybe, but not if the hardware can handle on-the-fly switching.
Idea! What if we made our programs manually set the CPU Speed? Like in RPGs, low Power for outdoor walking, shops, menus, etc. but high power for fancy effects in battle, title screen, etc.
How long does the nspire last in high power mode? Is it really that bad?

problem is, I had an 86.That's why I said I'd kill for xlib. If you don't know what that means (local colloquealism) basically it means I really wanted it. Actually, at that point I didn't know how to use the for( function. Now i can't try it since that calc is dead. I got really good grayscale with disp once, but it left annoying strings of flickering characters above it.

But sometimes it gets so bad that you want to run back to axe parser and put a blanket over your head....
Once on the 86 I tried a simple grayscale method. I found that clrdraw actually takes less time than zooming, and got a flickery gray! However, you had to repeat it over and over as, when it got to the goto and lbl, it would have a noticable pause.
I would've killed for 86 xlib that day.
EDIT: I meant it takes more time than zooming

too bad for you....my family got my computer from my grandfather, who was the equivalent of a nerd in his time.

Maybe it's only for clearing the RAM in case of a crash....not surprising....Zens have the same thing, as do many other MP3 Players.....
You do know that anything in the Documents is in flash, right? The only stuff in RAM is the stuff you have open, and it is still backed up in archive when loaded.
EDIT: BTW, to get rid of the no-prog mode you can hook it to the computer. Works like a charm, and you don't actually have to send anything.

It does, actually, providing you have the new OS (or so I've heard) but don't try it with 1.1! I don't know what would happen.

Maybe it could have live CPU adjustments.....so that when low resources are used, low CPU power is used.

Hmm...I was born in '93, but we had a realy old computer with 3.1 on it. 3.1 was so bugged up it wouldn't even start, so I used MS-DOS. I was 4, and it was easy for me. I like text more than guis anyways. Half the time in linux I use the terminal anyways Never messed around much with other language windows. not much call for it here in good ol' utah EDIT: Anyone want some source code? Here's LibNDS!!!!! Would've been a tar.bz2 and 80 KB less, but those aren't allowed here. Be warned, they have their own (short) license, so read it and make sure you follow their rules.
