Yeah, it's still at that iffy stage where everyone could lose interest.

Holy crap that engine looks amazing. With graphics like that I don't mind monochrome at all
![]() I don't see why we should include sound if we're worrying about people having a shell or not...... ![]() @Shmibs, so the laser attack would shake the screen too...I don't see a downside.... 603

We should have a forbidden sea, too. You know, like the bermuda triangle. :p

If we go turn-based it should have a time bar, or the equivalent in its code (ie FF10) so that speed gets properly balanced. It doesn't have to be a real-time animated bar, but it would be cool if it was.
I agree with the idea that we need one consistent system. ARPG doesn't make sense if the coolest battles (the boss fights) are just turn based. ARPG bosses are only a little more complex than regular enemies (bigger script, bigger sprite, event tied to death) 605

He's busy, that's all. IIRC that's why he handed Axe's development over to Runer.

1200 bytes isn't that big if you only have 300 bytes of it out of the appvar at a time.

You mean this one, right? http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/421/42148.html
@Tr1p1ea I don't think it would be too much data, if you're just referring to storage space, since we'll be using external appvars for large parts of the storage. We could store most of the sprite data there. 8 lvl grey is a little excessive, though. What if we made it 3 level gray, but only the background used the back layer? All sprite work would be done in monochrome, so everything but scrolling and updating the screen only works on one buffer, but we still get the pretty area maps and whatnot. 609

12 is quite a few, but not too many if the story accounts for it well (ie separate parties following different plots, like FF6)

Axe / Re: Archiving Programs within Axe programs« on: December 07, 2012, 08:04:31 pm »
When you compile it shows up in the bottom of the menu, with a # in front of the name.
It only backs up if it's not archived. 612

I understand that, but is pokemon really the style we're after? Pokemon was designed with the idea that you would have hundreds of characters to train. We're only going to have 12, max.

You need a github account before I can add you to the git repo.
Also, it just occurred to me that doing this just before the christmas break may not have been the best idea ![]() 615

That's a good point. Maybe obscure it all, with only hints to who it really refers to, rather than such blatant references. It also adds to the humor aspect.
