News / Re: nCleaner: even more free space on your TI-Nspire
« on: August 13, 2012, 05:35:15 pm »
I don't know, It seems like the text files for the different languages would only take up maybe 100-500 kb or so...but since the calc supports lots of langs I guess that could add up.

If only it supported that many programming languages. I could do with a little python.

I would bet GBA homebrew runs better than the real stuff, since homebrew usually is developed with incomplete hardware information. As such, they avoid the less-used features.

The biggest bonus of homebrew is the small size though.

xacto, you could look it up on google. :P If it's downloaded as a zip, you can put that right onto your calc and it will take the same amount of space as the download lists.

@Yeong it's not hard to make your own codes, or even convert codebreaker to whatever the nspire uses. They're just memory access codes.

Frankly the number one surprise for me on this emulator is the apparent lack of TI-Boy style similar-system hacks. I mean, it's written in C!

Yeah, porting an accurate version of spore would not be easy :P

That's cool.

@Az I doubt you would need to reinstall ndless, since ndless is what handles the conversion in the first place. It's not changing OSes, it's altering the existing one.

POWDER is one of my favorite games. I first found it while looking for GBA homebrew for my flashcart, and I still regularly play the DS version.

not the dust game, the roguelike.

zincland.com/powder

@Calc84maniac another bonus because of that is that Handhelds are almost always region-free, so you can import european and japanese games for your US handheld with no issues.

I find that I invariably rewrite a project at least once before it's anything useful, simply because I get the perfect ideas on what I should have done differently. I still plan beforehand, but that just reduces it to one or two rewrites rather than three or four.

Rewriting usually goes 3 to 4 times faster than the original, though.

Computer Usage and Setup Help / Re: Virus problem

No windows machine can last forever when it's attached to the internet :P

Venom, Opera would have some "Security" by not being a very mainstream browser, but you'd still be fully affected by any viruses coming through file downloads. Mostly you're just avoiding the terrible IE ones, though :P

Do you have any virus software?

for someone actually in a problem with their PC, I recommend installing and scanning with MalwareBytes Anti-Malware. The free version has all the good stuff, and it doesn't interfere with other software much. Don't expect any fancy features though. (I recommend it because it gets a LOT of stuff I've seen other scanners miss)

Oh, by the way, my favorite recommendation in this case is Linux.

Another major difference is that Osmos, at least the PC version, was very puzzle centric for a lot of the levels, where spore is more of an action game.

If he works on projects as sporadically as I do, he may not come back to this one for several months. After all, it is quite playable.
