O.O I just noticed this!
Maybe it's a test for something?

I think it was because its removal was temporary in the first place, removed until dust fall or something, as some sort of trial.

Pretty much the same reasons why the Spam forum disappears from times to times.

I just wish that the rating mod would have been made so that down/upvoting time was logged, so that http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=ezportal;sa=page;p=25 is sorted in order and staff can spot vandalism easier via the db.

that along with some "prevent more than three ratings per half hour" rule or something like that would be helpful. i have no clues if something like that is even feasible, though, so i suppose it goes on the stack of ideas along with the 10% rule for spam.

they are both things that can be useful but can also be taken advantage of far too easily.

That would be a nice idea actually. It would require someone knowing PHP, though, as I doubt the original authors would add that.

is there a mix. number for negative rating onto a single post, or can we get inlimited negative ratings?

I  agree that's a good idea, but I think it should onlybe for negative ratings. Because if multiple persons posts really great things, you'll give positive ratings to the first few guys but not to the last ones anymmore because you don't wanna wait for such a long time!

How about negative ratings per half an hour, but positive ratings per day?

Here's how positive / negative ratings work: A person may only uprate or downrate a single post once. Clicking uprate or downrate again removes the rating. What Shmibs was talking about was in the past we had people troll downratings. Some people would get mad at a particular person and go and downrate several of their posts quickly to make it look as if they had a bad total post rating. What he was suggesting was a limit to how often you could downrate a specific user in a certain time period. We did have people uprate spamming as well ,(some with duplicate accounts) however that did not happen as often.

How about Max. rates per posts of one specific person?
so I can give 10 today, but only 2 of them to posts of you.
That would make sense to prevent downrate or uprate spamming.

That is actually a very good idea! I agree with this.

Spoiler For IMPORTANT NEWS!:
Late last night, Quebec was invaded by a group calling themselves, "Omnimaga". Not much is known about these mysterious people except that they all carried calculators of some kind and they all seemed to converge on one house in particular. Experts estimate that the combined power of their fabled calculators is greater than all the worlds super computers put together. The group seems to be holding out in the home of a certain DJ_O, who the Omnimagians claim to be their founder. Such power has put the world at a standstill with everyone waiting to see what the Omnimagians will do...

Wait... This just in, the Omnimagians have sent the UN a list of demands that must be met or else the world will be "submitted to the wrath of Netham45's Lobster Army". Such demands include >9001 crates of peanuts, sacrificial blue lobsters, and a wide assortment of cherry flavored items. With such computing power stored in the hands of such people, we can only hope these demands are met.

In the wake of these events, we can only ask, Why? Why do these people make these demands, what caused them to gather, and what are their future plans...

I don't know, I don't want users too feel to restricted by the system. If things get too complicated with it, it will loose it's meaning and people won't use it.

Another idea I had was showing positive and negative ratings received separately in the total post ratings section of your profile (near posts and in the detailled profile). One issue is that certain members tried to make themselves look clean by contributing a lot about calc stuff while still being rude or trolling elsewhere, so they could get away with a very high rating.

Another idea would be to display a % rating below each ones, so for example if out of 1059 ratings someone got 895 positive ones, it shows a score of 85%. Maybe we should avoid displaying a red and green bar like on Youtube, though, otherwise some people will bring up rather spammish Youtube memes such as Quigibo's dislike bar being the same size as Justin Bieber penis and Njaddison having a lightsaber.
