String Editor

This topic is not so much a 'project in progress' as it is a 'project that is way way old (Feb 05) and I recently found and said "oh hey, you need upgrades kthx"' So I did. =]

http://calcg.org/cgi-bin/files.cgi?id=691

This was built by Fred Sparks, aka CDI, aka Zeromus, specifically for building maps for my RPG Starter Kit version 1. I was going through the files listed in my profile on calcg.org, and saw this, and couldn't remember for the life of me what it was. So after a quick download and look through (grimacing quite hard) I decided that this could be far, far better than it was. The previous version only allowed you the characters available normally. I have made it so now you have access to everything.

So, um, yeah. Discuss. XD

Oh yeah! forgot the link for the RPGSK: http://calcg.org/cgi-bin/files.cgi?id=667

As I said on Cemetech. There is another one out there that allows for dual layer maps from 1*1 to 16*8. it’s called ASCIIEDIT I think

RPGSK doesn't support dual layer ascii, so that is irrelevant to this program.

*shrugs*

If anyone happens to find any bugs messing around with this, or wants to take a look at the code for optimizations, go right on ahead, let me know what you find. ^_^

There's also the one by Vuurrobin in Omnimaga archives which comes with multiple versions but it seemed much slower to me. I'll try this one since it might come handy if I ever do string tilemaps larger than 16x8

Well, I do eventually plan a version for larger than 8x16 maps, since it would be nice to have something I can familiarize myself with, that would match up to my own maps and such.

Has anyone seen CDI/Fred/Zeromus around lately?

Nope, he can't come here but maybe if you're lucky you might be able to catch him in #tcpa on Efnet (altough I doubt he does calc stuff anymore)

Nope lately. Just saw him at IRC on unitedti channel not much months ago. EDIT: he is in unitedti today.

He feels kind of realized in calc dev. But he told me that had projects halted on computer backups of his calculator...
