I took fourteen AP exams over the first three years of high school, and none this year. Why? Because college doesn't take it.

Which means I wasted over $1,200 on AP exams already :P

So yeah, to those of you in your first years of high school—see if the colleges you plan to attend actually accept AP scores, and in which subjects. It varies a lot by school.
Spoiler For My scores:
All fives—maybe that was worth it ???

That sucks D:, did they tell you at the very last minute or is it possible to know in advance if a college will take them?

Most colleges have their AP acceptance policies online. Some are more ambiguous than others. But the problem for me was having no idea where I wanted to go, so I took the tests to be safe.

Where do you wanna go? I know that the big schools won't take AP credits, but having 5s on your application will certainly help you get in, right?
As for my own scores:

At least in my school, there are many reasons other than college credit to take APs.
1. They are weighted by a factor of 1.06 in the GPA, so if you want to be ranked well, you have to take lots of APs.
2. Our AP classes tend to have better teachers than other normal classes.
3. If you want to be with smart classmates, APs are where you find them.

But the actual AP exams are optional (at my school, don't know about yours), so I could have just chosen not to take them.

That seems like a pretty weird situation to me...we know how much we have to pay when we sign up for the course. In my area, it's mostly the parents that pay anyways  :P

Edit: I also believe that our school pays for those who can't afford the exam fee. Also, I'm now wondering if your post was a joke :P

Do they warn long enoough in advance if prices increase? (Eg like here when tuition fees went up by $625 in one year, although the increase was finally cancelled)
