As some of you may know, the TI 68k project I am working on since March this year is Day5. [http://artraid.com/alex/index.php/day5/] [http://artraid.com/alex/index.php/category/ti-89/day5/]

Towards the end of the spring I had to stop working on it because of the final exams which were quite important in my university entrance.

After all that passed, I started experimenting with some http://artraid.com/alex/index.php/category/gp2x/ coding. The specific games I started making for it are the counterparts of my TI Day5 ones, meaning that what I ('ll) code for the TI-89 I'll port to the GP2X and vice-versa. Day5 is not dead, and neither is my interest in TI-89 programming.

Kevin decided to delete the Day5 subforum without any kind of announcement (a PM telling me to update would have done the job) because I didn't update for a while. This was a slap in the face:

1. It bluntly pissed all over my work and efforts, there's no two ways about it.
2. Kevin forgot that I stuck around alot in this community's early days when activity was scarce, as well as after the old forum was deleted and most members left. I also took the initiative, organized, and launched the first Omnimaga Pixel Art contests, but I guess those don't matter anymore, they weren't updated in more than a week now.

I PM'ed him this morning, and this was his reply:

Hi Kevin,

This morning I noticed that the Day5 sub-forum was no longer under 'Our projects'. Did you delete it or move it somewhere?

- Alex

sunday I've deleted all inactive project sub forums (8 in total), they'll only be readded if there is at least progress posted once per week

Well isn't that swell, weekly updates, or *POOF*, your work is useless! This may be news to you my friend, but when I'm working on these things I'm working out of my own personal time, and do not get any pay in return (not that I ask for any, although I get this, don't I?).

I'll keep working on Day5, for updates you know where to check. I'm out.

It is wise to do some house cleaning every once in a while, but Alex's project subforum was only inactive for 5 weeks.

If this is the going to be policy at Omnimaga, then it might be a good idea to post it in the forum rules. I would suggest stating a reasonable time of inactivity (3 months) along with a friendly reminder/warning. This would definitely help reduce any confusion in the future.

Sorry about your subforum Alex -- maybe xlibman will resurrect it.

Keep up the great work!

well this kinda got solved, sry for this. you have to understand I havent been feeling pretty good this week at all, for some reasons, and I was still angry that one of my staff stopped posting on the forums completly, claiming he is busy and says he will be active again when school starts, and when school starts he's still inactive. At first I thought he was still very busy, but then only thing I discovered is that he posts 20 times per day on a small nintendo Wii forums, and I kinda took this as disrespect :/confused.gif (no name stated tho, as anyone here prbly post on other forums as well). On top of that when new ppl see a forum filled with inactive projects he thinks the forum is dying and leave (you prbly noticed lot of staff doesnt frequent as much as before as well as the older non staff members). Again sry for this :(sad.gif It maybe better if I quit my admin position I guess, I've did lot of bad stuff when I was here

@alex, It's not saying your work is useless. :Ptongue.gif Just make new topics when you have something new to post lol. It's not that big a deal.

@xlibman, no that is a normal thing for admin to do. It helps keep the forum clean of ancient stuff. Ur not a bad admin or anything.

Ya, I thought it was ok that he didn't update much because day5 was kind of the culmination of everything.  Just this one day where we'd all wait for the whole enchilada and swallow the entire goodness.  And every so often he'd spoil out apetites with some awesome screenies.

I was a bit surprised that you deleted his subforum, but I guess you had your reasons.  Besides, we could always have a giant news post when the day finally comes.

Alex: ya school's rough imho.  I'm thinking about doing some NDS homebrew though, but I don't have a DS or any homebrew hardware.  That's not to say I'm leaving calcs, but I'm always open to new knowledge, and I think that's a good attitude to have on the forums.  Keep up the good work man!

on a side note: perhaps it was a good idea not to start an Gundam Wing Sagas, N-Game, or a Shaman Quest forum XDsmiley.gif

@Liazon do you think it would be possible to program nintendo DS without the hardware and using an emu? Like just getting the developpement software (if free) and testing on emulators? I have a DS but the devkit is only buyable online and I cant buy online :(sad.gif

Note that I don't know much about the DS and its homebrew, but:

1. There is a free devkit for it made by the homebrew community.
2. There's also a PC emulator for it.

emu's for DS are very inaccurate, and it's actually pretty safe to crash a DS because of it's firmware protector.

at least, that's what 3FG told me.
